Meet Sten and Nolan, two brothers chasing the same dream: Finding Eden Glosbe!

Sten is a level-headed, 23 year old young man, who loves reading and yearns for new adventures, always optimistic and trusting.
His search begins one day like any other.
Probably inspired by their uncle Ennest the explorer and his tales of faraway lands and enchanting seas, Sten resolves to set off on his adventure. Along comes his best companion: his brother Nolan!
Sten has but one goal set for them: finding Eden Glosbe.
He doesn't know what it is exactly, but he read about it in the story of Aaron Zeno Blanco, the only adventurer to ever find it, and he wants to accomplish the same feat.
Perhaps he's doing it so that he can find himself, or is only in it for the thrill of the adventure.
Nolan, Sten's elder brother, doesn't concern himself that much. He's just happy to take part in his brother's adventure, and sets off by his side.
The two of them are in for the greatest travels and most exciting adventures they could imagine.

- Fight dangerous dark creatures in a fast-paced, action-based battle system!
- Collect gold tokens and spend them in the Secret Shop to unlock additional content!
- Find the mystical secret behind Eden Glosbe...

Synopsis of Episode 1 (spoilers ahead):
Sten and Nolan, two years from the departure of their Uncle Ennest, set off in the search for Eden Glosbe.
They land in Meromero Island, birthplace of Aaron Zeno Blanco, the only person, as far as anyone knows, that ever found it.
Is it treasure? A place? Does it even exist? Is it material? Immaterial?
They can't answer any of these questions, but after asking around they soon find someone who can: Golando Len, aka Grandpa Sapiens, who turns out being Aaron's grandfather.
The revelation is puzzling, as Aaron is supposed to have been born over a century ago...
The old man shows the brothers the way to Eden Glosbe: a Foddercannon which will shoot them up in the sky, on a Skyland.
Ever the inseparable duo, this time Sten and Nolan will have to split up to make their way through Nimbus Island!

Synopsis of Episode 2 (spoilers ahead):
Sten and his reluctant brother Nolan jump in the Foddercannon, which old man Golando Len pointed to them as the only way to reach the Skyland, the next leg of the journey to Eden Glosbe.
They jump in and fire up the cannon, which shoots them all the way up to Nimbus Island, miles high in the sky.
They’re greeted by Ren, a friendly character resembling a fluffy bunny, which claims to be a divinity living on the Island.
Ren fills the brothers in on the purpose of Nimbus Island: it houses the shrine of Zero Pointo, an artifact that has to be split in order to renew the world and regenerate everything as it is destroyed: good and evil, matter and void, light and darkness, order and chaos.
If it were to stay whole for too long, there would be no creation to balance out the destruction, and everything would soon cease to exist.
Luckily for the two brothers, they are able to use the Time Tether to set things right once again, and bring the two halves of Zero Pointo apart.
Javh, the God of Evil responsible for merging the two halves of Zero Pointo, hinders our heroes in their quest to separate the two halves.
The tough battles against Javh’s minions (Which Ren informs him are called Omega) and Javh himself start undermining Nolan’s resolve, making him realize the only reason he’s put up with it so far is that he’s never objected to his brother making him tag along.
He comes to the conclusion that finding Eden Glosbe is only Sten’s quest, not his, and thus leaves him on his own, mocking his dreams and asking Ren to bring him back home.
Ren sends Nolan back to ground level, while Sten presses on to the search of Eden Glosbe…

Meet Callia, a mysterious girl Nolan bumps into while trying to get his bearings.
Callia tells him of a group of explorers heading to Antlartis Forest, the place where Eden Glosbe is supposedly hidden.
Antlartis is a dark, shady forest that even the most daring are wary to approach. And in its darkness, it hides the greatest secret of all...

Hey there. Was curious to try out the game, so I've played through Episode 1 and have a few thoughts to share. I do apologise if a lot of it comes across as negative, but there were many aspects of the game I wasn't fond of, so I hope this feedback proves to be useful at least. :)

The intro felt pretty slow and lacked the story hook. Why is the main character so eager to find this Eden Glosbe? We are not told. We only see him proclaim to everyone that he wants to find it, and then he sets off with his friend. Also the way intro was structured felt redundant. At first we start off in present time, with main character telling his friend that they're setting off to find Eden Glosbe. Then it cuts and goes 2 years to the past. But that bit at the beginning was unnecessary. We could cut it out completely and it would make no difference. Usually transitions like these from present to the past are useful when something big and meaningful happens in the present, and then we're taken to the past that explains it.

I am not a fan of the sound effect that plays when dialogue is being typed up. It's just a repetitive noise that distracts me. Maybe other players will appreciate it, but I think silent text is less likely to annoy people.

Mapping. I have mixed feelings about it. Though parts of it look pretty and I can tell you've put a fair amount of work into it, there were a few maps which were way too simple, like a huge empty open space early on (just before the village), or some parts later on just have you go in a long straight line with no features. Some of the boundaries also feel unnatural, like a very straight cliff edge with no irregularities, which corners off perfectly.

I liked the idea of you getting to control two brothers, one that can jump, and another one climb. It's a pretty cool idea and makes puzzles interesting. In fact, I'd probably say the puzzles were the one thing I enjoyed in the game. They were put together well and required you to make use of both brothers. Good job on those.

There was a glitch on one of them, however. It's the one where Sten has to jump up and stand on a button for Nolan to get onto a small raft that would take him across the river. I noticed at times when I swapped characters with Sten being up there, Nolan would suddenly teleport there too, and I had to restart from a previous save.

Oh also, how come the dashing is disabled? Would've been nice to be able to dash.

Finally the battles. I'll be brutally honest. I really really didn't like the battle system at all. It involved virtually no thinking and strategy. The whole thing was just about the reflexes and how fast you can press the correct buttons. There were something like 4-5 battles in this episode and all were exactly the same. Each time it was one and the same enemy, which is not even explained as to why it's even attacking you on the first place, and you do the same thing in each of those fights. Maybe some players will enjoy a fast-reflex battle system like this, but it greatly narrows down the audience. In short, it didn't click with me in any way, and I just wanted to get each battle done and over with.

So I got to the end of episode 1 and I probably won't be playing episode 2, since I didn't really feel gripped by the game's story or battles. The puzzles were the only thing I liked. Having said that, I think some players will enjoy this game, since it's not really bad or anything. It just needs a better hook and reason for characters to be on this adventure.

Hello Matseb!
I found your review thoughtful and exhaustive, so I felt the need to reply.
First of all, I agree with most of your complaints about Episode 1. I went for a simple introduction without many unnecessary complications, perhaps that's just my own narrative style to present a player with the plot. Maybe some players will like and someone won't.

Same for the dialogue sound: some thought it was cute, you find them annoying. I guess I should add the option todisable them so that you can choose!

Personally, I like them (of course) and it was mostly a way to add more depth to the characters (the pitch and tone change depending on gender, age... or humanity!)

I'm pleased to see you appreciated the idea of switching between two characters to solve puzzles and proceed further into the game.

You could say that's the game's selling point, and as more episodes come out more characters will appear, with more diverse skills (both on the map and in battle) to add more to the variety.

That is pretty much the main reason I'm releasing the game one episode at a time.

I've been adding more features (such as the battle system) which, since they're new and untested, may or may not add to the game, unlike seasoned and time-tested features.
That's the reason behindthe episodical structure of the game: adding something new in each episode and use the feedback to improve the ones I'm working on by adding, modifying or removing features. That's how I plan on making it a decent game once it's completed.

For instance, Episode 2 features the appearance of another player characters with new abilities and an "attempt" at controlling three characters at once in battle against a different foe.
Episode 3 will see yet another character, a girl capable of wall-running, and I'm still adding tweaks to the battle system to make it more enjoyable.

Also, instead of adding a Run button, I instead increased the player's speed to a leisurely 4.5, which shouldn't make traversing areas too bad.

Thanks again a lot for the comment! All of your opinions will be considered and used to improve on the game and direct the development of the next episodes.
Thanks for playing and commenting, I'm glad you could at least appreciate part of the game :)

No problem. Glad the feedback was useful. :D

That's a good idea that you're adding more characters with unique abilities. That would definitely spice up the gameplay. Most of all I am hoping there will be something more to do in battles and not just trying to get the right buttons quickly.

I've seen the dialogue sound feature being used in some other games, and one had exactly the same kind of sound with the voices. I think getting an option to disable it would be great. If not, maybe at least to make it slightly quieter?

I didn't realise the game was still ongoing. If some of the things are still being changed, I might check out future episodes after all.

What IS Eden Glosbe?
That is the question, can you answer it?

All of you who have played Eden Glosbe, sooner or later you -probably- asked yourself the question: what's this Eden Glosbe we're supposed to find??!!
(And if you didn't, now you are!)
A simple question, with an equally simple answer, since everyone can find one by simply using their... imagination!
Now you probably have your own personal mental definition of the Eden Glosbe.

It's time to share it with all of us, by...

- Replying to this topic
- Sending me a PM
- Sending me an email at stefmercadante-at-gmail.com

What happens next? That's the best part.
Your messages (Your answers to the question "What is Eden Glosbe?") will be featured in the Episode 3 Intro!
It will be a proper part of the game's plot, just as the part where you'll finally find the actual Eden Glosbe, and will be featured in both the Italian and English version, like this:

The deadline is the release date for Episode 3 (Probably mid-February).

Most important, sign your ideas with the name by which you want to be known in-game.
I hope you like it, and speak your mind freely! ^ ^

Episode 2:

The most notable change is Episode 1's Main Menu, which has been changed to resemble the other episodes',
and introducing Hero Mode! Hero mode is a secret option that can be accessed via a secret code by starting Episode 1 with an Episode 4 carry-over code!
Also, graphics have been updated (making them qualitatively equal to Ep.3) and some bugs have been fixed (for instance, you can now reset puzzles such as the boulders and alarm clock in Episode 1 if you get stuck).
On another note, there aren't separate versions in English and Italian language anymore: Language can now be selected at the beginning of each game.

If you haven't been playing and following the development of Eden Glosbe yet, now's the perfect chance to begin! 8D

See you soon on February 14 for the release of Episode 3!
