hello ellipsis... today I was just ellipsing whether to buy ellipsis maker ace or ellipses maker ellipsis..... The elippsis,.... why I am ellipsing this... is because ellipses.... of... the... ellipsing.. ellipsis.. ellipsis ellipsis ellipsis ellipsis... ellipsis..........

Guys please, so far I haven't seen a single completed game without utterly abusing the ellipsis... I really enjoy certain games but each time I see an unneccesary ellipsis I want to hit my self and my monitor with a sledgehammer, as hard as humanly possible. Please stop with it :(

I don't think The Vendor has unnecessary ellipsis. It does have a lot of necessary scottish accent though. Choose your poison.

It's just three periods. You won't die.

I think the misuse of the word "irony" is a far bigger offense than someone using three periods.  Just sayin', man...

Most people use ellipses to show a change of thought, an interruption, or silence and seem to forget that we actually have a punctuation for that; the em dash (—). Ellipses primarily are used for the omission of text, without altering context, though there is some stylistic overlap with ellipses. If using ellipses know when to use them instead of the em dash and don't use them so excessively that I have no other choice but to believe that the cast and crew have shotgun an entire fifth of Jack Daniel's.

I still say it's a bigger problem that people use "Irony" and "ironic" incorrectly.  I don't see anyone complaining that there was a song created in which absolutely nothing in it is Ironic, despite it's name.

Or are we only selectively complaining about minor things everyone does that are incorrect?

I say it's a bigger problem that people say "ought of". That grinds my gears so hard I have jaw problems from clenching my teeth.

Who says "ought of"?  I don't think I've ever seen that written or heard it spoken...

I guess we should throw 'anyways' and 'off of' into the mix. I think the point is people should care about good editing. Things won't be perfect but things do need looked over and more than once, too.

I see "could of" most, but "ought of" is rare but even worse. Ah, the privilege of getting annoyed by semantics~

Ellipses is my hero!

I have seen people right "half to". A little piece of me dies every time.

To dot...or not to dot...that is the question...whether 'tis nobler in the night...nevermind; I'm sounding like a pompous butthead, not Jean Luc Picard.

That comes from miss hearing could've (since they sound the same), just in case you didn't know. But ''Ought of" doesn't make any sense, since it should be "Ought to have" (I'm sure you know), which if you must contract would be "Oughtta have" (Which I have never heard, but sounds horrid in my head)...I guess you could go "Oughtta've" which would sound similar to "Ought of", though not identical.

Shall we complain about the over use of parenthesis now?

Edit: And no complaining about my grammar, I know it sucks.

Honestly, and I'm probably using the grammar incorrectly, I employ ellipses for the notion of a voice trailing off. For an example, a 'mini-boss' you could say, has a pretty little speech before he attacks. (You know he's a boss if you catch him "monologue'ing".) The premise is that the boss waits while you retrieve/equip a weapon before fighting you, presumably one on one.

Willy 'One-Eye' Jenkins: Yeh din' really think I'd still fight fair... Would yeh? Ahhr-harharhar!  Get 'em lads!   (This indication says otherwise as two other nameless pirates join in, forcing for a somewhat tougher battle than expected ultimately.)

As a imho it really lends it self well after inserting a \| for the physical second or two pause in text display.

We could just have the guy who hates the usage of it direct us to the actual usages of it...  Or the article on Wikipedia that says all our usages of it are in fact, correct...

He actually says "unnecessary" at one point.  Which, in turn, means, "incorrect usage".  :D   Thanks for playing though!

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
