All right, I need to give my artist 8 emotions I want for my character's facesets. What do you feel are the most used?

I've got:

happy

sad

angry

embarrased

frustrated

I'm thinking:

thoughtful

shy

????

What else can I add? And I may make different lists depending on the character, so I'd love to see a variety of emotions here.  Thanks!

Shocked and/or Scared might be good too.  Maybe tired?

The angry yelling expression

The smiling, life is a bed of roses face

and

The WTF do want face(I know the artist who did the Fantasy hero pack, noone does the WTF do you want face as good as that artist) lol

I have to say these three expression types are the most used, as well as the most useful.

Shocked/surprised would be something I would want to use.

Maybe it is best to go through some dialogues between your characters and find out what emotions are appropiate and fitting for the dialogue. Depending on your game, you may want to have a "in love/adoring someone" emotion or, for a darker game, more sad options, like a crying emotion. For some characters maybe a grim/stern face.

Other possible emotion faceset: remorseful/sorry, sinister/malicious, disappointed, ashamed/shy, mischievious/playful, flirting/seducing.

Go through your game plot and see what emotions you're characters should be expressing.

That's the only 'list' that matters.

Have the first one just the face with no hard emotion something netural. Then, Joy, Surprise, Fear, Sadness, Disgust, Anger. That's 7, so 1 spot left, and um... fill it with an emotion you feel the character in question is prone to express, that no-one else is. Like the thoughtful and shy emotions. Also, of the six emotions I listed, each character can vary greatly on how they express them, so take advantage of that. :thumbsup-left: Like one character might make a deer-in-headlights surprise, whereas another the classic hands on their cheeks mouth wide open surprise, but both are interpretations of being surprised so they fit my list of ideas, and can serve their personalities at the same time.

I have normal, happy, sad, angry, fear and surprise. I wish I had annoyed and confused, but I'm getting by with just those. Next game I'll add those in, and maybe even make more.

I just wanted to get some ideas from others to see if there was anything that I wasn't thinking of - for example, surprised made my list due to the suggestion here.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! Maybe this will be helpful to others as well.

This is what I usually have if I'm limiting myself to 1 faceset sheet:

Neutral, Happy, Sad, Annoyed, Angry, Surprised, Embarrassed, Injured (which is either in pain or sick/ill/possessed, depending on the story)

Though I usually have more than one sheet and have different levels of those basic emotions. Example, for happy I would have: slightly amused, confident grin, laughing and a sad/nostalgic smile, while surprised could have: slightly startled, completely shocked, surprised/embarrassed, and horrified. The amount of different levels depends on the character's personality. Someone who's generally positive will have more happy variations than someone who gets very angry a lot.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
