Sometime back in 2013 I abandoned the world of RPG Maker for a multitude of reasons. The main few included the use of the Ruby language and my disdain for it, and a growing interest in other areas of development. Since then I've managed to learn a handful of programming languages including C++, C#, and Java. I quickly fell in love with the Unity game engine and thus most of my free time has been spent developing little projects here and there for mobile devices. I currently have one project which I intend to publish over the Summer if all goes well.

RPG Maker MV recently caught my eye with its use of JavaScript along with a standard JS library. I quickly grabbed the trial and immediately started to examine the engine. Realizing the ease at which the engine could be modified and extended, I quickly purchased a copy on Steam and got involved in a side project along with some friends who happened to be making an RPG at the time.

Overall the engine seems vastly more efficient and extensible than previous makers and is therefore a valid platform in my eyes. I am excited to once again be a part of the RPG making community and look forward to many awesome experiences!

-TL;DR: Hi everyone, I'm back and stuff!

Welcome back, buddy. I also recently returned from a long break. I said I'd be back in a month or two, but it ended up turning into YEARS.

That being said, unlike me, you actualy came back with some extra skills. I just spent time slacking off.

In any case, I don't mean to be...well, mean. But I think you shouldn't have dissmissed RM so easily. There are d*** good games out there, and they were made with those not-so-valid-in-your-eyes Makers.

I'd mention one that got some nice atention and might have been more popular if Undertale hadn't been so popular, but I'm NOT sure if I'm allowed to mention it in these forums, as it is VERY disturbing and DEFINITELY not something the younger members should play.

Here's a couple clues: It was mentioned in the most recent Extra Credits' "Games you might not have tried" and it was described as giving the exact oposite kind of feels Undertale gives.

Also, Nitro Rad LOVES it and has a mask of one of the bosses.

I probably could have worded my statement a bit better. What I really meant was validity in terms of what I wanted to do and how much work had to be done. I started to stray towards mobile development and RPG Maker until now supported only Windows. Granted I never liked Ruby and despite easily learning a handful of C-based languages I never got the hang of it. In the end it was a combination of frustration and the need to try other platforms. I have certainly seen some amazing games made with the RPG Maker series and often marveled at how the developers were able to overcome the limitations of the engine.

Hopefully the project I'm currently coding for makes it into the growing list of amazing games!

I see. I apologize. I know that feeling of frustration, but the road to game dev-ing is full of those moments.

Patience is must-have when making games, and something I would like to have more of.

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
