@Necromus: It doesn't hurt to have more testers, since the game is rather long this time round. It would also help if I could more testers who are roughly in my timezone (+2 GMT). Most users here ( I daresay ) tend to be at least 6 hours behind ( EST ) or 6 hours ahead of my timezone, so it does create problems when waiting for those reports. :) Of course, I need to be able to trust you guys as well. Can you do that for me? But I know most of you fairly well, so hopefully it won't pose a problem. :)

I'm GMT +1 and what u would tell me stays with me :p

I'm only mapping with Mack tiles and our style is really similar, just mine is bigger.

While you are mostly using 2 tiles for walls, i pretty much always use 3, gives more freedom for elevation, especially for caves heh.

Also, i think i mentioned that before, whats with the shadows around cliffs?

The cliff like 4 tiles down, 2 left has shadows, pretty much everything else doesn't.

To the left of the chest, above the flower, the other cliff to the right, above the tree and flowers, is that on purpose?

Wow, I only noticed that now. I guess I have to give all my cliffs shadows to keep the effect the same. I use 3 tiles for my cave mapping. I never liked using 2 tiles for it, doesn't give that sense of depth. And I saw one of your maps ( when you posted the Woratana Multiple Fog script for VXAce ). I really liked it. :)

The shadow thing happens quite often, u have no idea how often i had to edit stuff again and again, just because the autotile function (mainly VX) breaks shadows in combination with stuff placed there afterwards.

Luckly Ace is a bit easier on that, with the extra shadow tool.

That map u saw there is also just as "broken" as yours here, i just imported all my maps from VX to Ace and that is an older one, were i didn't really check for shadows, there quite some mistakes there, even double shadows, which result in dark blocks.

I was just trying to get my scripts running on ace lol, still gotta rename all switches and variables, since everything is blank in Ace after the conversion naturally >.>

About the wall sice, i was just judging by your er...lets say overworld mapping, there are always 2 tiles i think.

Progress so far: Everything is coming together beautifully. Whoo, I can't wait to share it with you guys! And I found my missing cave maps. It appears I didn't delete them after all. ^^ I'd also like to share with you Laine's evolution in design over the last 1.5 years ( I started her concept in November 2010 ). She's undergone quite a change, leading to the Lightning-esque design you see now. Just don't say that to her face. She'll shove her sword up your left nostril. lol

I mean, if you look at her in the below drawings, she isn't one to be trifled with. :D Pretty serious gal, but I like her that way. Loses her bad-ass cape and that fringe. Headband and longcoat ( with awesome collar ) remained.

For the record, she wasn't inspired by Lightning anyway. ^^ Laine is pretty much a combination of everything I love in an RPG heroine: strong, determined, butt-kicking and sexy. ^^

The diference is quite remarkable and i gotta say, i like the current one a lot more.

No matter where u draw your inspiration from tho, she does resemble lightning a lot imo, and thats damn cool.

Also cloaks, they look awesome, but they really only make sense on someone who doesn't rely on agile movement, which a up front fighter definitely does.

So it's for the better if she doesn't have one i'd say.

@Luchino - the art style is not an issue. it was just my personal opinion. so can i sign up as a tester? i am 3.5 hours ahead of your time zone.

EDIT: Am I the only one who sees a big head saying no instead of a screenshot and now even the support bar!

@BulletPlus: No, you're not the only one. That's why I removed it. It's something to do with my image host. So I removed it. I'll add you as my very last tester, and just make a note on the OP stating that testing for ERD is now closed.

I've been working myself to the bone for this, and with just under a month to go for testing, I'm trying to squeeze out as much of my time as possible for this. I still have to finish up two more towns, maybe an extra dungeon and two sidequests. But my toils of labour are indeed bearing fruit.



Yeah, Eliza is your 5th party member. She's like an iceberg in boots, the coldest, most arrogant sage you'll ever have the misfortune of meeting...

We always need more Lainrick (that's Laine + Patrick, right? My fandom-nicknames are rusty)! I always love staring at your maps. They have a cohesive feel to them but still don't feel like the same town again and again. The only thing I would suggest for Laine's profile is to darken the image a bit more (or perhaps make the text thicker?) so your eyes go to the text instead of your wonderful portrait art back there. Can't wait to see more when you get a new demo out! :D

Bad news everyone... While I was working on my project, the power tripped, and I lost all my most recent data. So now I can't open the project at all... :( And everything was going so well. I has just started out on my temple dungeon with the movable statues and pressure switches, but I also lost all of the most

recent cutscenes I've been working on... Along with the looping intro cutscenes and the Guide I was working on. *sigh*

Luckily I had backup, thanks to Dropbox, but it's not my most recent version. There's a lot of things I need to tidy up, and it's going to take a long time to do so. The testing may have to wait until May for the latest guys, with a release by June. I hope... ><

I knew something like this was going to happen. I knew it.

April Fool's? Nah, I don't joke about stuff like this. I have backup of my game, and I'm restoring everything asap.

Panicking wasn't going to get me anywhere, so I just started logically from the beginning, and seeing what I could salvage. Actually, in terms of data, I only lost out on 2 major cutscenes ( luckily, I can remember most of the dialogue ), part of my temple dungeon and part of Camhaill ( that town that you see in the above screenshot ). Beta-testing at the same time, so I don't have to come back to the same areas, but I always overlook things.

As for those fan-nicknames, Paine was actually the first one I thought of. ^^ Given what those two go through, it makes sense.

Oh dear, I hope you get everything salvaged! Just as well you had back ups. Blood Shard got messed up last year 'cause of a nasty virus, and I hardly had ANYTHING backed up so at least you're not in that position D:

Redoing cutscenes is just the worst though right? -_-

@quigon: Cutscenes are actually fun for me to write, since it combines my love of music and writing in one nice little package. ^^ Only thing is, I lost out on a really great scene towards the beginning of the game ( I was re-writing the 'Foreboding' scene, when Paine ( :p ) meets that hooded figure ) when I lost my game data. Now I'm struggling to remember it. ><

Oh, and have some more screens. ^^ More in-game guide goodness. The entire guide is evented.





@BulletPlus: I recall you mentioned something about the 'Lightning Bruiser' over at the Screenshot thread: It is basically a character who is strong, sturdy and fast, and takes its name from the Tvtrope of the same name. Patrick is a Glass Cannon, which means he can dish out some mighty damage ( outperforming Laine ), but he can't take any.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
