I had to look pretty closely at the action times+ trait for the next edition of my tutorial series and it gave me what I think is a pretty badass idea for an RPG enemy which is actually really easy to make, but I wanted to get some feedback on the concept.

Basically the enemy would be a "hydra" if you will. The more damage it takes, the more heads sprout from it (can be achieved using slightly different battler graphics) and it gains additional action times+ traits. Basically, the more heads it has, the more actions it can take per turn. This means the optimal strategy is to take it out as quickly and efficiently as possible in as few turns as possible, because leaving it at low or critical HP could wipe out your party.

What do you guys think of this?

As long as it wasn't too strong (do to the action+) it could be very fun.

Isn't it always best to take out an enemy as quickly and efficiently as possible?

I like this idea, I did something similar with one of my projects in development. Basically the main enemy (body) has multiple tentacles (around 6) that each attack you. The tentacles are easy to defeat but spawn back after 4-5 turns. So for this fight it's best to attack the tentacles with group attacks while pounding the main enemy's body with strong attacks. Once the body is killed the tentacles go down with it. :)

to better impliment it, make sure to make multiple enemy IDs. All the IDs have the same states, except different attack to sho the "evolution" of the heas and attacks. At % hp, have it transform into the next ID in line, It will keep the current HP, MP, TP (if used) as the old form, but can have a diferent pic along with the increased attacks.

edit: you canalso do it on enemy skills and set different weights as HP lowers, but if it recovers at all, it weakens again.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
