Hi, I recently thought of an idea to make combat a little more amusing and satisfying for my current MV project, what I am after is possibly having note tags assigned to enemies or maybe even party members that allow them to say sentences reflecting on what they do by using the text/digits used on battle screens for dmg/buff/debuff handouts.

For example having an enemy beginning his turn of attack he has a random line of text saying "Eat lead!" displaying above his battle sprite. Or maybe after being damaged critically he could say something like "Oh..I'm missing a rib, that isn't good". Of course I'm hoping that the text remains for a brief moment before disappearing.

Now I realize I could possibly do this through the event handler in the battle screen tab under systems- but there would be too many strange variables to arrange this. I'm hoping that someone out there can help me with this. I'm not a professional scriptwriter but here's a generic list of what kind of things enemies/party members could use as a handler.

Attacking

Using skill

Buffing> being healed etc

De buffing> being blinded> poisoned etc.

Damaged

Escaping

Critically damaged

Failing an escape

Preferably I would like enemies/party members use these at random times, so for example- sometimes nothing will be said. Some cases-whoever is being active or interacted with has a multiple range of other dialogue to display.

Bump

I really feel this would make combat more exciting.

So to summarize, you want to display some pop-up text above battlers that may randomly appear when certain skills are used, or when certain states are added/removed, and so on.

Essentially yes, using the text/digits used to display damage briefly rather than handling it with commands that interrupt the game.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
