Equipment Adding Stats That Don't Exist

Hi there. I have a really bizarre that popped out of no where. The weapons and armour for my Actor 2 (no other actor has this issue) won't match with what I set them as.

For example the weapon is supposed to increased ATK by 3, but it increases it by 8. I restart the game from new game, the weapon is fine but all of the sudden armour now reduces the actor's DEF. Restart, DEF is 8 points higher. I don't understand what's going on. I've checked through the database things are fine, I've checked through the events leading up to that point, everything is fine. Checking my plugins, all fine. And it's ONLY my Actor 2. The actors are all fine no problem.

What plugins do you have, and does it happen when you disable them all? Does it happen in a brand new project with NO plugins at all?

I have pretty much all Yanfly plugins with a few others. After disabling all plugins it was fine, no issue.

So then it is now up to you to identify which of those plugins is causing the problem. Enable them, one by one, testing after each one, and the moment the problem happens, you know the last plugin you enabled is the one that caused it.


If you what to short-cut, look at what plugins MIGHT be causing an issue. YEP_EquipCore is probably the first one I'd look at. And I would guess that it might have something to do with notes you have set up for the actor or class or equipment, rather than the plugin itself.

After going through all that testing I found out that it was YEP_ItemCore causing the problem. At first I thought it was clashing with YEP_EquipCore as a weird bug BUT it was a setting I missed. Random Variance.

"Randomize the stats found for non shop items by this value either positive or negative. Set 0 for no random."

^ That was causing my issues. I never did notice this until I switched from high to low parameters. Why it was affecting Actor 2's weapon and armour, I don't know but this issue has been resolved, you can close this now.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
