So I dont want to just rip the battle system from this game, but for those of us who played this... this game got a very large cult following largely due to its extremely fluid battle system. This game made you feal like you were actually in each battle, which is a big acomplishment for a game for the GBA. I still have this game and my gameboy advance, no other games. at all.

Basically when you chose attack you could press A and B in sequence and the order you pressed them determined which skills/combos you used. It allowed for a lot of fun combo options without going through boring menus

when you chose magic you would then use the arrow keys to select your target, and then the spells were catagorized in spell groups. it doesnt sound fluid but it was literally, RIght to water menu, than each direction was a different spell (ill link a youtube vid of the game)
The other thing that was fun and unique (especially for the time) was the Block, and Dodge mechanics, when you were being attacked you could perform times dodges and blocks with A and B.

I found a somewhat similar system in development by someone making a scifi game, but he is using frontview so even if he did release it it would most likely not be easily coverted to sideview

How viable is a system like this and does anyone know of anything to this effect in development or does anyone have an interest in making something like this? Even just adding the timed block and dodge mechanics would be a wonderful addition to the stock system.

Ok my bad, I kinda thought this might be the wrong forum but I couldn't find a plugins board, make sense it would be under javascript.

You know this is kinda why I created my QTE plugin.
Use it with action sequences and you can do just what you're asking for, and more.
Be warned that it only provides a way to make QTEs and match sequences to skills learned, everything else will have to be done manually.
Link is in my signature if you wanna check it out.

There's also sumrndmdde's timed attack core plugin which you might want to check out.

That's the only two options I know of.

Thanks astfgl66, your plugin would probably do the job but i think getting it set up would be a bit beyond my current skills as of yet. Nonetheless i bookmarked it to look at it when i get to a point where i know what i'm doing lol.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
