So I dont want to just rip the battle system from this game, but for those of us who played this... this game got a very large cult following largely due to its extremely fluid battle system. This game made you feal like you were actually in each battle, which is a big acomplishment for a game for the GBA. I still have this game and my gameboy advance, no other games. at all.
Basically when you chose attack you could press A and B in sequence and the order you pressed them determined which skills/combos you used. It allowed for a lot of fun combo options without going through boring menus
when you chose magic you would then use the arrow keys to select your target, and then the spells were catagorized in spell groups. it doesnt sound fluid but it was literally, RIght to water menu, than each direction was a different spell (ill link a youtube vid of the game)
The other thing that was fun and unique (especially for the time) was the Block, and Dodge mechanics, when you were being attacked you could perform times dodges and blocks with A and B.
I found a somewhat similar system in development by someone making a scifi game, but he is using frontview so even if he did release it it would most likely not be easily coverted to sideview
How viable is a system like this and does anyone know of anything to this effect in development or does anyone have an interest in making something like this? Even just adding the timed block and dodge mechanics would be a wonderful addition to the stock system.
