Error in 'Game_Battler'.

So I recently transferred my RPGmaker VX project over to RPGmaker VX Ace and I started a battletest.

Whenever I want to Guard it gives this error:

Script 'Game_Battler' line 366: NoMethodError occurred.

undefined method '<' for nil:NilClass.

Please help and reply soon,

How did you transfer the project? Those are two different programs.


At a guess I would say that you have transferred a script that is only for RGSS2 (VX) and not compatible with RGSS3 (VXA), and in that case you need to replace that script.

What are 99% of the scripts. ;)

Only found 1 or 2 that worked with copy paste. :)  

If you copy stuff from VX into ACE, you shouldn't copy scripts, or else errors are 99% guaranteed. ;)

The characters and Tilesets and maps should be okay. How it works with events I can't tell. Never transfered anything. (\s/)

Would you mind uploading the contents of the "data" folder of your project for checking?

If you are not comfortable with sharing your project data here you can also send it via PM (of course the more people can look at it, the better the chances for a quicker answer).

Considering the error message chances are that no element was set for the skill you used which could be because of the converting process. What does the field "Element" (top-right corner) say when you look up skill #2 in the database?

I don't have Ace with me, but I'm guessing this is an error from a custom script and not just an issue with your damage formula.


However, could you please take a screenshot of your Guard skill and post it here? I'm not sure there's reason yet to ask for a full copy of your Data folder ... let's try and sort it out without going to that extreme immediately :)


Also a list of any custom scripts you have. I agree with the above - you cannot just copy VX scripts to VX Ace. There are many that have been converted, so you'd need to search for the Ace version and use that instead. But you may also have some that just aren't usable in Ace and don't have a conversion available.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
