errors activating VX Ace Lite

I'm trying to install and use Ace Lite (to verify: both the title and graphics of the icon do say Lite) and the Activation step is not working. First it gave an SSL error, but I used the proxy suggestion from another thread here. Now it says "The remote server returned an error (417) expectation failed". What does this mean and how do we fix it?

(BTW, unrelated comment: perhaps it would be smarter if your installer checked for dot Net 2.0 at the beginning of the install process instead of the end? and if your system requirements mentioned dot Net?)

How many threads about the same problem need to exist before it gets noticed?

Not your place to say, and we do have someone on support. Don't necropost and spam in threads that are unrelated to you.

There's nothing unrelated about it. I'm having the same problem, and finding months old threads on the same issue with no solutions is less than helpful, particularly if the response to a support ticket is a link right back to these forums.

Most of them were solved and the people just never posted a "thank you".

There is no "one perfect" solution for these problems, because they can have a dozen different causes - most of them are on the computer or the internet connection. You wouldn't get hundreds of users without problems if that were a general bug.

However, finding the single specific reason in each case requires a lot of information about the computer having the problem, about the connection type and other specifics - that can't be done fast, because every computer is different with different drivers and more. And each and every solution listed in these topics helped someone solve the problem - those where that specific cause was the reason for the problems.

If you have checked "everything" (or believe so) and still have that problem, then please list specifically what you have tried, and what kind of PC/Connection you have. We might be able to point you to a test or variant you might have missed.

Necroposting every similiar topic will not help you solve the problem.

I am running Windows XP. .Net 2.0 is installed. Comcast cable internet connection.

I have tried:

Registering with a @hotmail or @comcast e-mail address.

Connecting through proxy servers: HTTP or HTTPS, located in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. About 25 in all.

Went to http://www.cogenpost.com/  to make sure I could connect to it.

Disabled Windows Firewall.

Disabled Norton Smart Firewall.

Disabled Norton antivirus.

Added exception to Norton Smart Firewall for RPG Maker.

Added exception to Norton antivirus for RPG Maker.

Added 74.124.219.187 allow to router.

Placed the computer in router DMZ, bypassing firewall entirely.

I also sent in a support ticket, which took 2 days to get a response telling me to check a thread in this forum (try different e-mail solution). It's been more than 72 hours since my response to that, with no further contact beyond the automated "Message recieved' e-mail.

If there is any other relevant information needed, please be specific. Thank you..

Finally got a response, and was able to manually activate with a registry file. There is apparently no solution for the problem I was having, so a support ticket is the only way.

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
