Errors with steam versioni of RPG maker

im having some issues with RPG maker. i downloaded the one on steam and had lite on my pc and everything worked fine. i got rid of lite so i could free up sapce and now my steam version of RPG maker wont open up any project files and i can't have it be the default program to open them. anynoe got a clue whats going on?

EDIT: i origianlly had a friends copy of Ace full and ace lite, and i felt that since i had my own full ace on steam i could delete the two and keep the steam ace full. now none of my projects are loading. do i have to uninstall steam ace and reinstall to get things to work again?

Make a new project with your steam version. Copy the project's Game.rvproject2 and replace the ones in your lite projects. It should work.

i tried that. its not reading the game.rvproject2 files from anywhere. im gonna try reinstalling the steam version to see if that resets the file pathing.

EDIT: actually, before i do that, is it possible to re-download it off steam once you have already bought/were given a key?

Try copying the *.exe program launcher that shows up when you create a new project and launch it. Copy the *.exe over to the folder with your Lite project and run it. That's what worked for me, after looking at it all again.

Yes, it is.

What you want to do is this:

1. In Steam, go to Library > Software
2. Find your RPG Maker in the list
3. Right-click on the name and go to Properties
4. Click the 'Local Files' tab
5. Click the 'Verify Integrity of Application Cache' button on that tab
6. Wait

When that is done, try running RPG Maker again and see if it works.

Have you tried opening the Steam Ace then using the open project dialog? I'm assuming you're trying to open the game.rvproj2 directly from the explorer


@Khaos - the .exe is for running the game not for editing it.

The exe does nothing but call the game. It's not even used/accessed until you try to play.

Granted, I am not using steam version, I have a physical copy, But when i tried to upgrade to that from Lite, I had various issues, and then it wouldn't let me launch the game via playtest. I had to replace the *.exe file to make it run with VX Ace and not Lite.

i just reinstalled the steam version and everything worked out. i couldn't open the projects from the DS resource pack, but i dont need the maps that come from it so we are good. i just needed to open up my newest project, The World of Runica! Where I, Dretz The Green, shall be appearing as a wandering wizard that acts like that of fizban. except i am not a dragon in disguise. lol.
