Finally the game is complete and ready for download!

I expect people will complete the game within 5-7 hours.

Over 1000 personal hours in to game development, spread over 3 years along with some capital investment in the resources used! I do hope people find some enjoyment in playing and hopefully someone completes it!

Artwork from Cecillia Lacroix (character design) and Hirei (motion videos)

I will be here to help out if anyone gets stuck but I tried to make it somewhat straight forward yet still challenging to complete the game!

Proudly presenting Eternity Tales (The First Journey) to the RPGM community.

Fight to prevent the return of a malevolent group bent on world domination as you fight to discover the truth behind an ancient prophecy and your role in it.

    Story:

Demons invade our world, darkness is coming, but who will stand against it?
Once, long before there was such a thing as time, our world was shrouded in darkness..
Then came the beauty of light, with it our world was given love and life.
The Lords of Dread retreated deep in to the shadows of the netherworld, plotting their return to power, by banishing light forever.
For now, light is protected within the hearts of the true children of Garkin, Arvil and Haven, The Children of Light.
The Children are safe from the Dread Lords and can only be found by the purest of Mortals, such a mortal is Skye, a student of the legendary Nempo Master, Gen Fu.
As Skye’s training nears its completion he will soon set forth on his journey of fate, to stop the Dread Lords, to save our world from a terrible future.

This looks beautiful and well thought out. I love your characters! <3 Artwork is my weakness, and Kuro TOTALLY reminds me of Jin from Samurai Champloo. Your mapping could be spruced up a bit, but, looks alright for the EPR phase.

    Just one small hint.

I know the screenshots are a work in progress but remember to never mix the DS styled sprites with the ACE ones, they don't match each other at all. Besides this, everything looks pretty awesome and promising...also the artwork is lovely, I especially like Haven among your characters (he looks cool).

Good luck with your game, I'll follow the thread.

Thanks Dalph, I got to say, i never really felt like the DS and ACE sprites clashed at all. But I will look at that a bit closer, now you mention it!

Thanks for having a look and following the thread! Thanks

Cecillia's art style is so easy to spot.

Seems that she has gotten better with character art for non-dark scenes.

Impressed so far by what I've seen of this project: very nice character art, the announcement video's first 1:45 lead-in with its animations, montages, transitions SFX is excellent (however I feel the next 5 minutes of in-game footage can be tightened a bit to give the overall trailer more oomph), VO's are effective and enhance the game/video. Looking forward to the demo, keep up the good work!

    UPDATE;~

Been a bit quiet, but i thought I'd use to this time to give a quick update on the game development.

First off, thanks for the guys who have already taken time to view the trailers and or to share a comment on this thread.

In terms of the game itself, I've nearly completed the story for Eternity Tales (The First Journey), 90% of the script is in place, as

are 90% of the areas (in a basic mapping style),

I also have around 90% of the resources in my possession now, including all of the voices, battlers, artwork and music.

I still have a good long way to go however, but thankfully it is my favorite part, mapping.

I've just finished mapping a somewhat large Samurai Town, with blossom trees and the like, it's been one of my favorite maps to create in

this game so far and I'm looking forward to cracking on to creating more maps.

My next map, I'm moving back to complete a large forest, one of the early phases of the game, after that I'm on to another town!

I'm hoping to really get my head down in the coming months and get some more screenshots, a new trailer and some more little bits and

pieces up in to this thread for you guys to see and hopefully comment on.

    again, thanks for your support!

In my opinion, most of those maps have some serious perspective problems due how the sprites own perspective is.

It just somehow looks off. Like they weren't standing straight but everything was on a cliff or something that goes downhill.

This makes houses also feel kind off etc in terms of perspective.

Those maps do have perspective problems. I can see the intention of what you're trying to do, but when you get towards the back, everything isn't positioned the same way as the things toward the front.

This is kinda rough, but if you see everything against perspective lines, you'll see that so many things aren't aligned to it, especially the stone walls, the tent, the barrel pyramids, and the alignment of the tiles. Everything has to be adjust accordingly to the perspective when you make these kinds of maps.

Hello, I see what you mean on the beach screenshot, but when you say "most" of the maps have serious perspective problems", which others do you mean?

Or is it just the beach S/c that stands out?
