Somethings bothering me, quite a few times since Unites release a lot of people and myself included became aware that the EULA (End-User License Agreement) has been altered so that if you own X software then you're able to distribute those assets within to another engine.
Nothing I've found in the EULA reflects this.

[Appendix] Terms of Game Distribution, etc.

Article 2 (Handling of Company Assets)

The User shall handle Company Assets contained in This Software as follows.
  1. (1) Company Assets may be used only in User Games produced with This Software.
  2. (2) Company Assets may be modified (colors or size changed, inverted, trimmed, etc.) only for purposes of use in User Games produced with This Software.
  3. (3) Company Assets or those modified pursuant to the previous item may undergo Distribution, etc. with User Games produced with This Software. Furthermore, the User may not perform Distribution, etc. of individual Company Assets or those modified, or Distribution, etc. in combination with programs, etc. other than User Games. However, the User may duplicate, transfer, publicly transmit, or enable transmission of personally-modified Company Assets to other Authorized Users free of charge.

So, when things like this are spoken about:
I think the most onerous thing I saw was some restriction that they couldn't be used in programs outside of RPG Maker?

Actually, they can. There was an edit to the EULA earlier this year that stated any official RPG Maker assets that you legally own can be used in any game maker you own.

It makes me think, if it has been altered (as I also believed it was) where is the alteration?

There was a thread here about it, which I can't find off the top of my head.

But it's on Gotcha Gotcha's site.

Ah thank you, that's where the confusion was.

Since https://www.rpgmakerweb.com/eula and within (Help)>(Contents)>User License Agreement both state that you can't.

The backwards R really makes it for that warning, lol.

Though yeah, while it's neat restrictions have been made more lax on default RPG Maker assets, I do think it's potentially confusing to have multiple EULAs out in the open with conflicting statements. Is it an easy task to get the one on the website here adjusted, too, or is there lots of red tape and such to navigate before anything can be touched?

'Cuz knowing I could use some of the RPG Maker stuff across some other non-RPG maker projects is super neat to know.

@Ms Littlefish That was written out the way a Walking Corpse's text would be in a Dragon Quest game.

Interesting . . .

So, I agree - but technically it's not an alteration to the EULA. If you follow the link I provided, Gotcha Gotcha has created a new Terms and Conditions that is overreaching all of the RPG Maker products.

I haven't Googled to see what the functional or legal difference might be between the EULA and the T&C, but it is technically a different document.

Ahh, I see what you mean! I completely glazed over them both being different types of documents. Definitely a bit more complex than I thought, then. Legal stuff has never been my area of expertise, I'm just the doofus that clicks okay to everything without reading it, lol. @~@

I suppose maybe there should just be a link or something to the new ToC that's easily accessible so people are confident in having the most up to date knowledge of is/isn't allowed with the software.

about this argument. I expressed myself badly, I did it on my own, my English was mixed with Google Translate. And I believe chatGPT didn't even exist in 2016
