Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well today. I've got an issue with my game that I was curious to see if there was a way to get it to work the way I'd like.

As I'm a visual person I've included an image. The issue I am having is, Event 2 won't let me access Event 1. Event 1 is a book that opens and closes set to 'same as character' and the trigger is 'action button'. It worked fine. Until I put in Event 2, which allows the player to get into the bed, it is set to 'below characters' and the trigger is 'action button'.

My question is just how can I access both Events, without having to shove them both into 1 Event. Will Event 2, always make Event 1 inaccessible?

I know how to fix this, but I just want to learn if maybe there is a different way of doing this where I can have both Event 1 and 2 side by side existing without having to take Event 1 and shoving it into Event 2.

Sorry if I seem like I'm repeating myself a lot. I just always feel like I do a bad job explaining what I want or am asking and so I try to phrase it in different ways.

Thank you, thank you! To whoever replies. Even if I don't get the answer I'm looking for the fact that you stopped by to offer me your opinion or help means a lot! ♥

You could put a conditional inside event 2 that triggers event 1 if the player is facing up when triggering the action button, otherwise it triggers event 2. Just copy event 1 inside the conditional check of event 2. You could keep both events that way and if someone wants to access the book from the left they still could.

One solution is to move the second event one step to the left and make it same priority as well.
then it will depend on which event the player is facing but both will trigger from the same position.

The problem originally is that you can only trigger one event at a time. If several events are triggered from the same position, there needs to be a way to differ between them as the engine can only run one command at a time - and if there is no other difference (like in your original setup) then the engine will use an internal priority to decide which event to trigger.

There are other alternatives to make several events trigger differently on the same position, but those alternatives have other disadvantages and should be decided on a case-by case basis. Especially if you decide to use a parallel process to check the difference, which would be the worst alternative (but sometimes there is no other choice)

I'm not sure your question Tell me what you want to do directly? It may be easier than I may understand.

Thank you everyone for your answers! Sorry to Palatkorn that my message confused you. But I was able to get it to work with just a switch. I appreciate the explanations too. Some of you always surprise me with how in depth you go with explaining.

-virtual hugs to all three of you!-

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
