Hello! Still doing some late night RPG Making, and well, I've come across a problem. You see, I'm using YanFly's Event Chase Player Plugin, and while it does work as intended, there's a slight problem I can't figure out. I may just be dumb, or overlooking it since I'm pretty tired, but here's the deal:

So, when the Event, which we'll call Monster, spots the Player, they are notified, and start to chase the Player. When the Monster (Set to Event Touch) touches the Player, it initiates a Battle Process with 4 different possible enemies using Random Variables. However, once the Player Escapes or defeats the Monster, the Monster Event activates immediately after exiting the Battle Process, and repeats. I'm not sure how to bypass this, which is why I'm posting this here!

As for my request, how am I able to make it where once the Player Escapes or defeats the Monster, the Monster disappears for x amount of time and respawns where it last was. So like:

  • Monster Spawns in center of Map
  • Monster spots Player and chases
  • Monster touches Player and activates a Battle Process
  • Player defeats Monster or Escapes
  • Monster disappears for x time
  • Monster appears in center of Map again to repeat
Any help or info would help for this, and I'd really appreciate anyone's time! Again, I may have overlooked a simple solution to this because I'm honestly tired, it's 5:44 in the morning, leave me alone :kaosigh:

Here's Screenshots of what I have to help out more:

Event Setup.PNG

Here's my Setup for the Event. Basically, it has a Custom Route which is shown in the Screenshot below that tells the Event to chase the Player. Once the Event touches the player using it's Event Trigger, it will activate a Variable at Random, and whatever the number is, it will activate a Battle Process for that number.

Event Custom Route.PNG

And here is the Custom Route. Only thing in here is the default Script for the Event to chase the Player and the Repeat Movement.

Again, thank you everyone who decides to help out! Cheers!

This seemed to work fine from brief testing, although the timer is visible to players and, more annoyingly, I'm not sure if this would work with multiple enemies since I think you can only have one timer at once? There are probably plugins to fix both of these but I'm not sure.

EDIT: Actually you don't even need a timer - no need for the control timer option on page 1, just delete the conditional branch on page 2, add 'wait X frames' and then 'turn self switch A off'. Just make sure it's a parallel process so it doesn't freeze the game.

Yes, I actually figured this out not so long after posting this! It was a bit annoying, but I was too tired to realize it. Yes, all I had to do was have it call a Self Switch and make it Wait x Frames, then turn it Off. I added 2 Self Switches for this, where it's 15 Seconds if you Escape and 30 Seconds if you defeat it. Thank you though!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
