Event-Dependent character reappearance

I want to have a character disappear from the room after you talk to her, and then have her either talking to a character in a different room before running outside excitedly, or just have her appear around town AFTER the player has activated her in the first event upstairs...
How difficult is this to do? I have very little experience, but I’ve at least gotten through making the initial contact event where she will rush downstairs.
If its possible:
Please just give clear instructions and a couple of screenshots...
I get confused easily, so throwing words at me would not work...

So use a Switch. Self Switches only effect one event. So you can talk to her, then throw on Self Switch A after you run her out of the room. The Switch will then effect the second page of the event, provided that the second page uses that as a Conditional Switch.

Or you can use a Universal Switch (a named Switch) so that after you talk with her, she moves out of the room. The Switch will then effect every event that you choose. In this case, you make that event with the condition that the Switch is turned On and then create her image and such on the different map.

Although, i might get get to you about this if my brain manages to turn in circles over it-

You are welcome. Honestly, Switches and Variables are the toughest things to learn about when it comes to events. Once you are able to manage them though, you will find that you can pretty much do anything you like.

Alright, here we go.
The item literally appears as a book in the player's inventory, and if you activate it, the screen dims and you see this. Its a book that actually works LIKE a book, but in the game sense of the word.
There are multiple books and scrolls.

You can just use multiple choices to page through each part of the book. Use a Screen effect to turn out the lights.

I understand how to dim the lights- what I’m confused about is how they got it to do that. Its an item, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to make it read like a book- how do I make it cause text to appear?

Oh. You can use a Common Event for that. When you go to read it, you can call a Common Event to trigger. But you need to link it to the item.

Ohhh, so I could potentially just create a whole bunch of books and have then as portable events?

Yes, you can indeed. That's what Common Events are for.

Alright.
My other big question is:
How do i take all of my character facial expressions and turn them into character sheets?
You know, like the sets of 8 already available in the maker?
I don’t have a picture editor of any kind, can i do it using the Maker? How?

No, RPG maker can't do that. Just download GIMP. It's a free editor.
Use a copy of an existing faceset and put your images into it, deleting whatever images is in it when you start.

Use a copy of an existing faceset and put your images into it, deleting whatever images is in it when you start.
I don’t know that my grampa’s computer can handle it. I guess I’ll have to get used to scrolling throw six dozen faces to find the one I need.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
