Event help needed

dont know if its the wrong forum im asking.


basicly what i need to make, is This scenario:


player is in prison, A Guard walks past the prison-cell and stop for A few seconds, looks around, and Then walks away (and repeats)


player needs A Stick to steal Keys from guard, so when/and only when guard is in front of cell, and looks away (looks Down) from player, player Can use Stick (must be in inventaret) to steal keys. (There is single tile of prison bars between player and guard.)


what is the easiest Way to "event" this, and still have conditional branch.


(keep in mind im fairly new at rpg maker)

Scripts have nothing to do with eventing.


Suggestion (can be a bit tricky to pull off):


1) use autonomous movement for the guard move cycle, NOT the set move route command)


2) have the event on action button trigger, but check when the event is triggered (this is the tricky part as the event automatically turns to the player on triggering, so you'll need some indirect check)


3) make the prison bars a counter in the tileset - that will allow you to trigger the guard on the other side

How about something a little bit easier?


Since the guard is an event, not an actor, you could leave the Guard on a Set Move Route, place the "Take Keys" event inside the bars where the player can stand on it, make the "Take Keys" event trigger "Action Button" and priority "Below Character". Then, the "Take Keys" event can have:  "Conditional Branch:[Guard] is Facing Down..."

Hi guys. Thx for the answers. I manager to fix the problem using events and tile passability. Thx for the inputs, hjem made me look at the problem from another angle.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
