Hello there,

My event works perfectly fine but ends up repeating itself when done. It is an autorun event with character movement and speech. A picture of the event is attached.event.PNG

all autorun and all parallel process event pages automatically repeat, you have to switch them off manually.

For one-time story events, that is usually done by making a second (empty) event page conditioned to a self-switch, and activate that self-switch at the end of the regular event.

For autoruns that need to run every time a map is entered (changing tint or overlays for example), you use erase event as that will temporarely erase the event until the map is reentered.

You really should try out some beginner tutorials first before blindly going into RPG Maker, and thinking you know what commands mean and do. They usually don't do what you think they do. In this case, Andar explained it already; autoruns repeat forever, until you turn them off manually. And no, you don't turn them off with exit event processing, or erase event (well, you can, but it's not what you're looking for). So read some tutorials, starting from here.

You seem to be mistaking me. I am fairly well informed of eventing and can do pretty much what I want, but as I have never used an autorun event, I needed help with that specific event.

Knowing when to use autorun or parallel processing events and how they differ from other types of events IS a pretty basic requirement, and should be among the first things you learn (which is why Celianna suggested it is a beginner level thing to learn). If you jump into a heap of eventing without understanding the differences, and when to use which type, you could be setting yourself up for a whole lot of pain and fixing things down the track.

so did you get it fixed?

Well, take a step back. You've been told the EXACT reason for it repeating, and the EXACT solution. If you have to resort to a "plan B", then you do NOT understand, and you NEED to stick with this until you do. As I said in my last post, knowing what these events do is a BASIC/BEGINNER requirement, and if you don't understand and you use them at the wrong time, you're going to give yourself a heap of headaches.

This logic does not compute. You cannot be well informed about eventing, yet know nothing about its triggers (in this case, an autorun). It's okay to be a complete beginner, and not know everything, that is why you start at beginner tutorials. Read everything there is to know. Experiment a little, and if something goes wrong, read another tutorial again, and if that doesn't help, try our support forum.

If your problem isn't fixed, then 1) I still recommend you read the tutorials I linked you and 2) post a screenshot of your event (the ENTIRE event window please, and all of its event pages) so we can further help you.
