Event not working/appearing

I'm relatively new to RPGVXA. I bought about 2 years ago and only started getting really into it recently.

I'm trying to create a scene where the protagonist (Octavia) is attacked by an orc, and then she's eventually saved by another character (Xander). Initially, the event was working fine, but the graphic for Xander wouldn't appear. After changing a few things here and there (and nothing worked), I reverted everything back to how it was originally. Now, when I playtest the game, the event won't even occur. Prior to the problem, I was working on a separate map that the two would go to.

These screenshots are of the event that initiates the battle between the protagonist and the orc, as well as other conversations that happen after.

This event page is blank to stop the event from looping (again, very new so I'm not sure of other ways to prevent that).

These next screenshots are for the battle sequence between the protagonist and the orc. At the end of the battle, a switch is turned on so that the graphic of the other character appears. It worked before, but now it suddenly doesn't.

I've already tried changing priorities, and nothing was happening. Any help is greatly appreciated, and I can supply more screenshots when needed.

Can you show some screenshots of your Xander event?

It's just a blank event for the graphic. I only changed his speed so he could 'run away' from monsters.

Are you starting a new game, or playing from a saved game where that self switch might already be on?

Just for fun, put a different sprite on each tab of that first event, so when you play, you can see which page is active, and also that the event really is where you think it should be.

Just for fun, put a different sprite on each tab of that first event, so when you play, you can see which page is active, and also that the event really is where you think it should be.
I'm playing from a save that has the player on a tile right before they step on the tile that activates the event. I'll try to do a new game and see what happens. I'll also use that graphic tip you suggested.

Alright, I playtested the game with a new save file. I also changed the graphic for the first event (the event that triggers the battle), as well as the other pages of the event. When I got to the area, I was able to see the graphic for the first page of the event, but touching it isn't triggering the event.

how do you touch it? changing the priority of the event changes the position from where you have to touch it.

Alright, I changed the priority to below characters and everything is working fine now, even the graphic for Xander is working. It's a bit weird because I had already changed the priority before, but I'm not going to question it much.
