I placed a signboard on my map, and configured it to show directions in text form, the trigger was set to the action button, but it's not working. I also checked the direction fix button, and then removed it when the event didn't take place. What should I do?

Placing a screenshot of the event here, so that we can see what you have done and where the error is...
You didn't even tell us which commands you put into the content area to be executed when triggered by the player's action button...

I stated them already. I placed a 'show text' command to show directions and nothing else.

You need to screenshot the entire event because you're only looking for things that you think are relevant. If that was enough, then you shouldn't have an issue at all.

The issue occurs because you're not looking at something.

I figured the problem out.

Event.PNG

The second event tab was empty, and it wasn't working because of that. I had clicked on that earlier by accident, and thought that it wouldn't be much of a problem. Apparently, it was a problem.

Well, the problem is solved. But I want to know whether checking the direction fix button helps out in any way? It's not checked right now, but the event is working just fine.

Events always read the last page first - even if that page is blank. So, the blank page with no condition would be read as "this needs to happen now", but because it's blank, nothing would actually happen. :)

Normal behavior for events is that they turn towards you when you "talk" to them. It's fine when your character set has the same graphic for every direction or when it's a person sprite that needs to turn to talk to you. But if you look at a character set like !Flame, you'll see that it has different lanterns for different directions. So, if "direction fix" is not checked, the event will turn and the graphic will change to whatever direction the player is approaching from.

The reason you were asked to show a screenshot of your image is because people often think the event commands are where the problem lies, so that's all they mention when explaining what they've done. SOMETIMES that's true, but more often than not, it's the OTHER stuff that points to the problem (the stuff people DON'T think is important enough to include in their description). In your case, a full screenshot would immediately have made someone ask what's on tab 2, specifically the conditions. So if someone asks you for more than you think is necessary, humor them and provide it even if you don't think it matters, as they know the information that WASN'T provided is just as important as the information that WAS provided. :)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
