Event problem!

Hi guys, im really stuck here, so I hope you can help!

I am trying to make a rock which will, once its mined, drop a few stones that a player can pick up (something like from Dont Starve).

Same thing with trees too.

Now the thing is.. Ive already managed to do this but in a complicated way. I have made an event "rock" which, once its mined, triggers "stone" events which ive placed around the rock. So you get the illusion of stones popping out of the rock. 

However, the problem is, if I do this this way, I will have to have a looooot of switches, because I plan to put a lot of rocks, woods etc. in my map. So, I hope you guys have a solution!

just change the event switch - rather than a real switch, then have a new event page that shows the new collectable rock.

Yes, but what if I want multiple stones to pop out.. It has to be more events.

Ok, even then, you only need to turn on one switch, then set the other stone events to only show when that switch is active, then a self switch to turn that event off when you collect the stone :)

Ok but if i do that and then i copy the "rock" event, so there is more rocks on the map, then if i brake one rock, all of the rocks will break because they all use the same switch. Right ? Or im just dumb and i dont understand you xD

Well yea, but you still shouldnt have to use that many switches.

Such is the price you have to pay for evented breakable rocks and fishing ponds and such. Eventing is limited. Ideally you would be using a script that simply creates some new events on the map when you successfully mine the rock.

Use a master map to provide a template for your rocks, and then use this:

Be reminded of the limitations of that script: if you leave and return to the map, the copied events will be gone.


You'll need a different (more complex) script if you want the copied events to be saved, but since the rocks are there to be collected this script would probably be the better solution.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
