Hey there. I hope this is the right place to post- I'm new to the forums here. D:

I'm having some difficulty making an event involving party members. I want to have the player go around town, recruit party members, then, after they have collected the party, I want the player to talk to the final character to join the party, which allows use of the ship. How would that work exactly?.-.

I think the easiest way to accomplish what you want is to use switches..

Each character you can recruit would require their own switches and would be added to the party through an event command and be removed from the town by having a blank event page afterwards. As for the ship, you'd have to have a ship some where but have conditional branches to prevent the players from accessing it..

Since you aren't specific about how you want things done and how it looks, I can't be too specific either. =x I can only give you a general idea.. I hope this helps.

Well, if this wasn't the right place to post you would of had to make your own thread in this forum.. This thread is for complex event systems such as a time system, farming system, housing system, etc.. But I'm not sure if yours could fit here any how, since lots of similar types of questions get answered in this thread any how..

But okay, here's how you go about doing it I suppose. This is just a general example as I'm not sure how you want the recruiting party members to go.

Captain Event-

Page1-

-Dialog refusing to let player onto the ship

Page2-

-Switch for when party can use ship (on left side near the top, you can have up to two switches required for an event.)

-Dialog for joining party

-event command adding captain to party

-Turn on self switch

Page3-

-Requires Self switch to be on

-No graphic so captain disappears from map

Party Member 001 Example-

Page1-

-Dialog and choices, if right choices join party, yay!

If wrong choices, restart event of different dialog..

-Switch for right choice turns on after joining party

Page2-

-Requires switch on after joining party

-No graphic so member disappears from map

This is just a basic example, I'm not going to go into detail and example all the intricacies you can put into it and such.. After all, I learned how to use the program without tutorials and just by playing around, and it isn't a difficult to use software. If you really don't understand what to do still, then you should instead look at beginning tutorials teaching you how to use switches and variables.

Ok, well you thank you for you time. I am trying to learn everything and going through tuts like no tomorrow haha. I'm really not trying to be a bother. .-. I'm sorry if I am. But this should help. Hello guys,

I don't know if this is the right section, but i try! it's the first time I use RPG Maker VX Ace, I manly use it for prototyping...

I need a point & click control behavior for my main character...is there something that i can use already done, or I must code from scratch? if this second, is there a tutorial for how to start scripting to link me? :)

Ok, I got a question that is bugging me from some time.

I have an event with 2 pages.

Can I make the event go from 1st page to 2nd page during the event itself? [The conditions for the 2nd page are met.]

If the event is autostart or parallel process it doesn't matter. However with touch and activate triggers it does matter.

Choice: Do This

Self Switch A = ON (this takes you to EVENT PAGE 2, where you have the condition Self Switch A ON, which is on the left side of the event window)

Choice Do that…

(Stay on EVENT PAGE 1 and continue the event

Hope fully this is helpful but I am only 10 days into my VX Ace trial for the first time so there may be others with better advice. Also I’d be happy to hear anyone that has a better approach to EVENT page swapping as well.

Well, it doesn't take you automatically on to page 2.

The event has to activate again (use the event) in order to get page 2 activated.

Using Self Switches is one good idea, but if you are to automatically switch that after the events at page 1 has already been done, you have to make them parallel process or autorun.

I figured it out, that without any custom inside handling, it will be impossible.

With a bunch of branches and copy-paste of event code, it is definitely possible.

I feel really stupid, but I'm new to VX ACE and I'm feeling my way around. I'm trying to set up a situation where the hero has to push three levers in a definite order so that he can open a barred gate. I can set this up so that the levers can be pushed in any order and the gate opens, but I'd prefer to (for example) press the middle lever first, then the first and finally the third.

this is possible by using common events and switches.

Haha okay, while that did answer my question... I really should have been more specific. xD I gathered I would need to use switches, but do I really need to run it as a common event? I would have thought it would have come from running a parallel process event, and use a conditional branch to determine whether the other event is at a certain co-ordinate, or a certain region.

Having thought about it further, I actually thought that this could actually have been achieved by a single event, using a variable to track Region ID. I know how to do this so that an event is triggered when the player is in a certain region, but is it possible to do the same for another event?

I find it really hard to describe this sort of thing, but the method I use for the player, is to have an event more or less like this:



Couldn't I use the same method, but with another event rather than the player?

Hi

I have some question in the event system that have been trouble me a lot.

When the player and he's party is in a cut-scene, is there anyway to move the actors in the party?

or do I have to remove them from the party, every-time? I wan't for example use Define movement route at member slot 2.

Please help me :)

You have to take them away and place events of them as replacement so you can move them...

I really wanted to ask about this problem I'm having a problem to solve:

I want a Hexagram event to summon monsters, and I want it to keep summoning them one after the other

Is there a way to do it so that it creates the events by itself or do I have to create many other events on the rest of the map and transfer them repeatedly?

Basically, yes. You cannot clone events, though there might be a script out there that does that.
