This thread is for trouble-shooting complicated event systems. Please only post in here if you are creating something that would probably end in 'X system' and is more advanced than general usage of the program.

This is not a recruitment thread. Please do not request event systems here or offer to provide event systems for others.

I'm having a little troublew with an NPC here...

ALright, so once you start the game, you'll end up in a house, and you'll be standing in front of a desk. On the other side, is an old man who says somethings and then promptly walks over and standins on the other side, simply looking at you for the rest of the cutscene.

Once you regain control, the player leaves the house (becuase at this point there's nothing better you can do), but if you go back inside, the NPC is standing away from the desk, back where he was when the cutscene started.

Anyway I can fix this?

That is because the event has already been done. There are ways to correct this:

1. Make a switch after the old man has walked in and made his move. Call it 'old man event done' or anything you want. Make a conditional branch on your door saying that if the switch (given) has been activated, then the old man's position should be at the coordinates you wanted him to stay. (See your Set Move Route).

2. Make two rooms that has the first event, and then another room with the old man at the place you want,

[edit Solved] (sort of): I attached a transform state to a common event with a conditional branch, then triggered another that took her out of transformed state if the state wasn't enabled. Bit cumbersome that in order to trigger it every turn I have to attach that common event to every one of her skills, but I can't think of another way to get it to work since loops freeze up the system..

Is there a way to trigger something every time a battle ends without putting an event on every map? I'd like to know because I have a character that I'm trying to get to only use her skills once per battle and the only way she gets them back right now is by putting an event on every map that forces her to learn them again. This is going to be difficult later when she may or may not have learned that skill yet in the first place, and I don't think I can attach a trigger to a character's level.

[EDIT] We found a solution to this!

-Hi, guys! Trying to find out if there's a way to make a touch-based encounter system on RMXP? If so, the help would be VERY much appreciated!

What do you mean exactly with touch-based encounter system? Like, monster visible on the map and when you touch them the battle starts?

Yes. That was what I was looking for. However, we did find a solution to it and managed to make our game with said touch-encounter system.

On the last page of the event command, there's a button named 'Change Actor Class'. :)

You need to turn on a switch at the end of your event, and give all 3 NPCs AND your trigger event an extra page/tab that's conditioned by that switch. The extra page/tab should not have any sprite, and everything else (apart from the condition) should be left at the default.

Also, this is not an event "system". Please just create a new thread for simple questions like this in the future. You should also check out the tutorials and look up how to use switches. I'm assuming you either used Erase Event or (more likely) changed the graphics on each event via a Set Move Route or something - those commands only affect the event until the map is reloaded.

I apologize for posting here but I tried what you said and it just makes the npcs invisible but the event still happens(I used change graphic under set movement for all npcs)

Yes, I said not to use Change Graphic - use a switch instead, and add an extra tab conditioned by that switch, to all 3 NPC events AND THE TRIGGER EVENT. If the event still happens (I assume you mean the one that makes all 3 disappear), then you haven't added an extra tab with the condition to that event.

If you still can't get it working, please start a new thread in the XP Support forum, and post screenshots of one of your NPC events as well as the trigger event that controls them. Include screenshots for each page/tab in each of those events, and make sure the entire event window is included - it should show the tabs, conditions, graphic, triggers, and the event code. If you do that, we'll be able to help you sort it out in no time :)

Set Move Route - Change Opacity (use this command over and over with decreasing values, with a wait for 4-5 frames between each one).

Also, this is a simple event question and you could ask it in its own thread. This thread is for much more complex event "systems".

Thanks for the reply and I am really sorry!

But with this way it doesn't disappear,I won't be able to see it but it will still be there.

Then you would use a switch or self switch after fading out, and add another event page conditioned by that switch or self switch.

I need help... I made an event and made sure it had a graphic set and everything and I went to test my game and it wasn't there, neither was the door I made. I saved, added graphics, made sure of the correct settings and everything. Help!
