So, I was giving out playtesting sessions of my game, when something weird came up. In the opening scene of my game there comes a point where 5 characters are supposed to appear for the player to choose from. This used to work just fine, but, now for some reason 3 of them have just... disappeared. I can't remember everything I've done that would cause this. I've made sure the characters aren't just invisible, and that proved right, they're pretty much gone.I wish I could go to more detail, but that's really all I know. It used to work, now it doesn't. I can't remember if I messed with the events or not. Thanks to whoever can help me, even if this is a lost cause.

You should post the events, posting SS of the game/map editor Isn't gonna help at all.

Are you starting a new game or loading a save file? Do the events have any conditions that might prevent them appearing? Do the events have any blank pages with no conditions, with a later page/tab number than the page with the images?

As Zoltor says, it's the EVENT window we need to see, not just an image of where they are on the map (though that's helpful too). When you provide the screenshot, make sure the WHOLE event window is included, and not just the event commands. And if you have several tabs, provide screenshots of each tab.

Just one of the events that has "disappeared" should be enough to give us clues.

that event can only disappear on the third event page, which means for some reason the switch #3 is ON at that moment in the game.

(you can proof that by putting a different sprite into the currently empty sprite picture of page 3)

Now you need to find out why that switch is ON - if that is the first map of a new game, then either you have a script added that turns that switch ON, or you have another event on that map that turns the switch ON.

Why do I get the feeling that the adding bret+ the activation of its switch should be on its own page(page 1), then have the Brett switch enable page 2 which would have the choices for the other party members.

Then on page three(well as many pages as you need after it), have it require the party combination switches.

I don't see why you have brett by himself activate a switch that is needed to stop the event from reaccuring..

It has to be done that way, because the command of page one is at the place where the actor is added as a member.
And all the other switches/variables on that page have nothing to do with the problem that that switch is ON before the page 1 can be executed, so they can be ignored for this error.

The OP needs to find the other place where that switch is turned on, like I said in the post above it's either a script or another event before the player reaches that map.

Play your game again, and if they're missing, hit F9 to check the status of those switches. I'm with Andar - something must be turning those switches on by default. And that means, if you're starting a NEW game, it's one of your added scripts, and you've either not changed the default switches it uses, or you've changed them but have not named them in your switch list, which has caused you to accidentally use them again.

Any chance you're using Yami's Overlay Mapping script?

Did you configure the part in the scripts that said "you need to configure this"? I'm guessing not.

Read through the comments in the script, then scroll down just a bit to where the switch and variable ids are used. See how many of each are needed. Then go into your switches and variables, find unused ones and name them for each one the script requires (the easiest way to do this is to create a new event, set a switch condition, find unused switches and name them, then do the same for variables; okay to get out to the map again, then delete the event - all you've done is written a name against the switches and variables so you don't accidentally think later they're unused and use them for something else - which is exactly what's happened here).

Then go back into the script and change the ids against the switch & variable constants to the ones you've allocated.
