Events using barrel, crate and shelf graphics

I might be missing something obvious here, but I am trying to make interactive objects like barrels or shelves you can dig around in and find gold or items. I create an event on the tile, set movement to fixed, and choose the barrel graphic from Tileset B. When I face the barrel in game and press the action button, nothing happens. My character can interact with NPC's just fine, and the only difference here is that I am using a barrel graphic instead of an npc graphic. Do I have to create some sort of chest instead?

I realize this would create a loop but just trying to get it working for now. Making a treasure quick event and changing the graphic works, but I don't want the chest opening sound.

To be honest I think it wants you to be standing on the barrel and using the action button, but since you cant stand on barrels you never get the chance to? Try changing it to player touch and see if that at least give you the gold and makes the window appear. Need someone more advanced to answer this.

Can't really tell what might be wrong, aside from Priority. Shouldn't it be the same as your party as opposed to below?

Just confirmed that's your problem. Setting it below means you have to be standing on top of it to use it. Make it the same priority as your characters.

Change the priority to "same as characters." "Priority" is probably not the best translation; it's the layer that the event is on.

Also, remember to click on Direction Fix. Otherwise the graphic will change depending from what side your character interacts with the barrel.

Thanks! It seems that near the bottom of the treasure quick event there is also a  CONTROL SELF SWITCH : A = ON, which I am guessing is to make sure you can't keep on taking 50g from the barrel over and over again?

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
