Hello, I'm creating a game where you the main character start off as a lowly slime monster in the vast hordes of the current Dark Lord. As you, the slime and player, get to level twenty you notice something in your mind. It appears you have three evolutionary paths to take, one of them a Imp, another a Orc, the final one a Ghast....

Enough of the backstory and basically the demo/half the prologue. By the way, after each battle the player will be able to choose between three different things, be it additional stat points, a state with a passive, or a skill. There is a 'item' shop set up where you buy skills, states, or stats as items for your character to learn like the Technical Machines of Pokemon. So the stats will not be set in stone even when the player gets to level twenty.

My first question is this: How can I change the main character's actor to a different one while the stat points stay the same?

if you only want to change the sprite, use the change actor graphic command.

I suggest you follow the link to the "starting point" in my signature and work through some of the event tutorials listed there if you don't know the event commands yet.

I am looking to change the actor completely due to the equipment I am designing for the character being different for each evolution. The kind of evolution I'm planning is for the character to keep their stats, but return to level 1 due to me setting the system up so level 20 being the farthest each actor can go, but still gain strength.

that would require some more setup on the eventing part - basically storing the stats into variables and then adding those values to a new actor, because in that case you should change the actor itself and not the sprite.

Thanks! I'll experiment with the game in order to do that.

Edit: I've tried it, it completely works but the only problem is that it sets the new actor's HP to 9999

Re-edit: It's fixed, didn't have the level changed. Thanks for the help!

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
