Hey All,

A newbie here working on a school project with RMMV. I'd like to ask if there is an example of RPG Maker games without elements of fighting. I am trying to create a storytelling game based on real life, and I would not need any of the fighting sequences. I am considering mini-games to add to the substance of the game.

Any RM version goes here but I'd really prefer an example of things that could be replicated in RMMV.

I've played a few RM games when I was young but all of them involves fight scene in some way, so I don't really have a great idea of how to do this.

I'd really appreciate any help here. Thanks :)

The only RMMV game without battles I know is The Witch's House MV. It's a survival horror game with puzzles and such unless you're not into horror, then my bad.

They where not made with the MV version, but the biggest most successful RPG Maker games currently on Steam don't have battles and instead are stories.

The one most people talk about is To The Moon.

@Switz I know originally they were not made with MV, I said it as the only RMMV game I know that doesn't have a battle system. And To The Moon is a good example.

Actually, I meant just RPG Maker in general, sorry for the confusion here. I'm a newbie here.

You know way more than I do, I could not name one made with MV lol. Judging from posters reason for question hints he might be thinking RPG Maker instead.

But still a good thought provoking question if it was specifically only MV

To the Moon will lead you to other games like Lisa, A Bird Story..While I am not 100% sure they do not have battles, it's just not my area of interest so I have not played them, but I do know from those who have played To The Moon that they ended up curled up in a ball crying their hearts out in the corner of their rooms.

I mostly know RPG horrors since they usually don't have battle systems.

Theres plenty of good examples of non horror games made in RPG Maker that dont have combat, here are some of my favorites. I generally actually prefer games without turn based combat to be honest, made in RPG Maker anyway, they tend to be more experimental and interesting conceptually.

Wither

Melon Journey

One Shot

Lavender

Red Trees

Ive also made a couple myself but they arent as good as the ones mentioned above.

Flatwoods

Hazmat

I hope these all help inspire you for your project!

Let's see, there's Uri's "Strange Man" series (The Crooked Man, The Sandman, The Boogie Man, and The Hanged Man), Mermaid Swamp (also by Uri), and Ib (which was made with RPG Maker 2000). Those are the narrative games I can name off the top of my head that haven't been mentioned so far.

There is no discussion element in the query.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
