RPG Maker Forums

After five years working with the RM engines, I figured it's time to search for greener pastures, namely in creative writing. It has always been my first love ( along with reading ), and quite frankly, lends better control to my over-active imagination, not to mention it is far more productive and enjoyable.

I have never been a game nut ( or indeed, an RPG nut, I've only played around 5 or so of them since 2001 ) and my main purpose with the Maker was to fuse creative and writing purpose in one. It worked for a while, but the candle that burns twice as bright lasts half as long. It flared, during 2011, when rpgmakervx.net was still an amazing site ( and had pretty damn awesome devs like emmych and jaydee15 ) but that game making passion of mine eventually died out as early as 2012.

Still, I forced myself ( yes, forced myself ) to finish Enelysion ( even though Vol II will most likely never be released ) so in a way, I have still accomplised something. The experience I gained from writing won't be wasted though.

So, five years, going from an inexperienced rookie who made a pretty terrible fan game with RMXP back in 2009, to actually finishing something decent ( and doing tutorials, resources etc. ).

Here's a visual indicator.

2009 - RMXP: Phantasy Star: Beneath a New Light. Currently the worst map I could find on my PC.

2014 - RMVX: Tristian: Lady of the Lion ( being turned into a novel now )

So, yeah. Cheers guys. It's been fun ( sort of ).

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
