Hi, I was wondering if there was any way to manually set the experience needed per level.

I'm looking to simplify it a little to give me a better idea of how many of each monster I'd have to kill to level up as well as making it easier to set experience for each part of the game. Apologies if it's in an obvious place that I've overlooked. :p

There's at least one script that will let you do this. I just can't think of its name or author off the top of my head, and have to go away from the computer so don't have time to look it up. Check out the Master Script List.

The script doesn't seem to be working for me. I followed the instructions word for word and it's still going by the exp curve in Ace. Any ideas? >.<

Check if your names are written exactly as they are in the database, and if the saved file is formatted correctly

Double and triple checked everything.
Names are all correct, file is a .csv and placed in the data folder.

Did you change the name of the .csv files by chance or else put them in a folder for orginization or are they just loose in the data folder? By default the script has the file path set as:

Data/actor_exp.csvData/class_exp.csvIf your filepath differs (like another folder) or you use a different name for the experience tables then you will need to adjust for that within the script. If that isn't it you are trying this from a new game that was first loaded after you installed the script right? Because otherwise any script can be unpredictable at best.

Loose in the data folder with the correct name. I also started a new game each time.

I had to head out to work so I can't check, but I was thinking that it was maybe because I'm using a portable drive (f:). But then the path only states "data/actor_exp" so I'm not even sure whether the drive would affect it.

I guess I'll try moving to my PC when I get home.

Any other suggestions would be great, though.

Which program do you use to save the csv files, and which options did you set when saving?

Several programs change the structure of a csv by using different element dividers, but they need to be like Tsukihime set them. Check the csv in a text editor to make sure that's formatted correctly.

Where did you install the script, and do you have any other script that might block it?

I used the one that was recommended (not office, the other).

It gave me a warning, but I opened as a text file and everything was as it should be.

I have a few of Yanfly's scripts, menu, battles etc. I have a rune script, enchantment script, crafting script, sprite battlers. Not sure any of these would interfere, though.

Several people have used the EXP script successfully, so it has to be something you're doing differently.

And unfortunately it's impossible to find that difference unless you're telling us exactly what you're doing.

For example, if there are other sripts you're using, you should give us a full list with the links to the scripts, so we can check if there are any commands in one of them that might conflict.

And as another option, can you link us the csv you're using, with a screenshot of the correct page in the database so we can check it?

Because if someone doesn't find an error, that is usually because he looked at the wrong place or because he only thinks something is correct - if he'd known the source of the problem he wouldn't have the error, and your descriptions so far are only about things you know - if you give full lists and screenshots, we can look for things you don't know...

Figured it out. After saving as a .csv from the database I have to open it as text and save it as a .csv again from a text program. It's 100% compatible with all the scripts I'm using, which is a relief. Thanks guys. :)

If that's the case, then the database program didn't save as pure CSV, but added special configuration data. Those usually get removed by opening with a simple text editor, because the text editor usually ignores non-text-sequences...

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
