It depends on what's in plan. It may also help to take a poll to see if people are okay with the site being down to add X, Y, and Z features and how long it's planned to take. At least that way we can have an idea.
Either way, I'm still sitting here wondering what these features are and when we might see them.
It's not simply features, it's a completely new forum system.
It's quite literally a reboot of the forum software... written from the ground up - a lot of things changed, and a lot of data needs to convert. It takes awhile to do, and we had a couple issues where some data in our forum store and a couple of other places didn't convert all the way and caused some really weird problems.
In the future, any down time will be minor patches/regular maintenance that only takes a couple of hours. The two days we were down was a one off.
Either way, I want to adapt to the new system as soon as possible, rather than sitting around waiting for this current version to reach EOL (which won't be for awhile, but still). That will also give me the chance to start taking advantage of the new API and get my own stuff deployed later down the road
