Plot
In the world where Drew lives, mages can gain EXP (Ex Points) by helping others. In fact, to become a mage, all you have to do is get EXP. By gaining EXP, mages become more and more powerful—Extraordinary. Drew lives an honest, simple mage's life, with his friends in their guild, Sirenia. They gain EXP by helping others, becoming more powerful as they go.
One day, while finishing up a quest for Liri, one of Drew's non-mage friends, Drew stumbles upon a forgotten flier for a conference on Magedomy. Deciding to go, Drew arrives in Inverita, a city in the middle of nowhere. He discovers that Aspera, a young mage, has created an EXP Factory, leading innocent mages into a factory, taking their EXP, and deforming them into monstrous slaves. After seeing a few Changed Mages (Changers for short) Drew barely escapes, and then returns, bringing his friends and Liri with him. They are determined to stop Aspera from bringing more mages. Unfortunately, Drew and his friends get captured. Liri, the only non-mage, is forced to take on Aspera by herself. Barely freeing Drew and his friends right before their Change, Aspera nearly kills them all, but they manage to escape, taking her EXP Canisters with them. They each consume one and leave the other 96 buried near them. Unfortunately, a young mage named Rho opens them, and consumes them. Aspera manages to possess him, and Rho joins Sirenia, controlled by Aspera. Rho steals two of Drew's friends, Nellie and Miranda, and Liri, Drew, and Derek go back to Inverita to save them. They kill Rho, but Aspera takes control of Liri and Drew, and not wanting to kill them, Derek doesn't know what to do. Nellie and Miranda emerge, and they fight Aspera until they kill her. She releases a cloud of EXP that they don't know what to do with. It takes over the video game, turning everyone against Drew and his friends. Drew and his friends don't kill anyone, and they have to collect the EXP in ten large capsules. Taking the ten large capsules, they force Aspera's cloud into a permanent cage. They take their EXP and put it in too. Then they all channel the EXP and make a spell that will, once and for all, channel the EXP into one big cage where it can never work again, so there can be no more mages. Liri ends the game by saying that she thinks that people don't need magic to be truly be Extraordinary. Drew laughs and agrees.
