Apologies if this is in the wrong place or anything, this is my first post.
Whenever I try boot up Your Turn To Die, I get this error message. I don't know what went wrong.
Sure, before I had done some playing around with the files on a different copy before it stopped loading, but this is an entirely new copy, untouched and untampered with.. I haven't changed anything in the files of this copy. As for IconSet itself, the file is indeed present, in the right place and correctly named.
I downloaded this copy of the game off the vgperson translation site - that is where everyone downloads it off of, so I didn't download the wrong thing or anything.

You should probably post this on the support for the game, but usually that error means it is spelled wrong or capitalized wrong. And yes, there is a difference between IconSet and iconset, so you may need to rename the file to match the capitalization shown in the error message.

or it might be that the folder you stored the game in is breaking the network rules on foldernames, that can also block the browser from loading any file. When that error comes up, open the console with F8 or whatever way your browser has to open the developer console. You'll get foldernames of that error. Any letter that is replaced with a % and a number (like spaces being replaced with %20) is a letter that does not follow networking rules and should be replaced/renamed.

Apologies for posting in the wrong forum. IconSet.png is correctly capitalised.

eek, that's a lot of things I've never done or heard of before,,,
This is the first time I've played anything made with RPG Maker and i'm not terribly savvy with this type of thing most of the time. Could you explain it in common terms, perhaps?

It's actually an issue that can hit on any game. Basically you are not ever supposed to use certain characters or letters for directory or folder names. Windows will often override it and let it work, but other OS's will not. RPGMaker requires though everything follow networking rules, which is no forbidden characters in names or folders (like symbols or spaces).

What andar is suggesting is to hit F8 when you get the error, and see what the full message is. Though since you are playing someone else's game you may need to contact them for more on that as I don't think you can do that, as that is only an option when you are working on your own project as far as know. Still give it a try and see, but if that doesn't work the only good option then is to contact the creator of the game.

Also I merged your posts as we ask you to not post below directly below your post unless 72 hours has past. It's just so all posts get a fair chance.

then the game you're playing disabled some browser functions. Nothing you can do about that, only the game developer could.

but we can still help you to text for that, you just have to tell us the place where you stored that game in a format that shows all folder names, and we can check for you.
That means we need it beginning with the drive letter through all folder names, something like "C:\folder1\folder2\folder3,\gamefolder".
Unfortunately the "This PC" that modern windows uses in its directory structure is an abbreviation for a number of folder names that are hidden in it, so it won't help to get a simple screenshot containing that, you have to go manually through the drive itself to the place to learn all folder names. But if you post that full filepath we can tell you if it contains problematic letters or not.

Do you mean the thing on the top of this screenshot? That's the filepath, I think. 'My pictures and files' is pretty much just a renamed Screenshots folder. that I've adapted into a folder for my own images and files on this pc. I've never had issues placing things in it, and the game was working perfectly fine stored here before it started coming up with the IconSet thing.

You'll have to move the game to another directory. My pictures and Files is using illegal characters, as spaces are not allowed. Windows will attempt to override it usually, but no other OS will, and MV is a multi-OS program so it has to follow the rules for all the OS's it runs on.

You'll probably run into this issue more often too as more engines/systems go multi-OS more and more things will stop working if you use spaces in your directory names.

Moved it to the Downloads folder and it still doesn't work. Like I said, the game was working fine in My images and files before, but now it's stopped working as of recent.

of course not
As I said in the post above "This PC" is a placeholder override from windows that usually contains more spaces.
You need to move the game outside of your library folder into the true harddrive section - as long as you have "this pc" instead of a drive letter at the beginning of your folder path it has a risk of being a path that does not follow networking rules.

Open the folder "This PC" on your desktop. All folders listed in the top area (including pictures or downloads) are redirected overrides from windows.
You need to go through the drive listing at the bottom to get the true path to anything, or to get a folder that is not redirected.
C:\RMGames\YourTurnToDie
would be a perfectly fine folder

Or another way to get that info:
Go to the folder YourTurnToDie and right-click it. Then select "Properties"
In the next window there should be a line labeled "Location" or "Place" or something like that (I don't have an english windows, so I don't know which translation is used). That will give you the correct filepath to that folder.

This is where I've put it, but i'm still getting the exact same error related to IconSet.png. Any other ideas of where I've gone wrong?
It may provide some info if I say that, on the computer at my mum's house i've got it in roughly the same filepath as what I had when I started this thread, and it works fine.
Pictures > My images and files > your turn to die > YourTurnToDie is the filepath used at the computer at my mum's house, and the game boots up fine even when i've done something like swap an audio track or change the font.
