Your weapon doesn't cause damage? Try adding features, edit your stats or change your formula. Make sure you have a attack skill and guard skill in your database. other wise If you run out of mp you can't use your weapon or shield.

any weapon that i call a common event stops doing damage. using your weapon as an example. it uses "sword animation" when it attacks.

normally it should play "sword animation" in front of the player and apply damage to any enemy on the tile in front of the player

but when it calls the common event, now it plays "sword animation" on top of the player and applys the damage to the tile the player is standing on. because the enemy will never be on top of the player and always in front of the player, the weapon in effect doesnt do damage because its not applying damage to the right tile.

im not sure exactly how your sword deals damage, and from your tags and settings it matches my weapons. so i find it strange you dont have the same problem

 What your weapon thinks the player is the enemy? Are you sure you don't have your actors as enemies in enemy database? lol

Have you tried putting your weapon and graphics into the demo? See if it could be one of your scripts conflicting with his?

Or look at the animation tab in database. It could be your animations not in the right place?

When you're in battle does the hp bar show?

maybe the script is not compatible with big characters.

Don't delete any of the original RTP.

or you have a bug, start a new file.

I just went to the animations tab and put the position to head. It does play over the player, and not cause damage. lol. Change the position to center or what ever.

The animation location could be the problem I'll check when I get home. Other than that I don't think your following what it's doing. It doesn't have to do with targeting. I'll find a way to show it visually if it isn't the animation location

sorry for the delay, it wasnt the animation position. even using the "hit animation" that is part of the demo doesn't work. its not incompatibility because it does the same with out extra scripts

Can you show me your weapon, skill, enemy database? Is your enemy event set to below characters? When you use you weapon do you go into battle? Do your skills work? Something in your database is not configured right.

right now what i am using until i get all this sorted, i am using the demo and doing my tests in there. my database is the same as the demo (double checked in case i accidentally made a change) my weapon is the same as the wood ax from the demo, only the icon is a sword from an icon set so my tags are right. my enemies are same as character, but that wouldnt be the issue since the issue is definitely with the weapon. when i get time ill put up screenshots of my problem and my database.

if you could, try making a new weapon, something very basic (could be a copy of wood axe) and have it call a common event (the common event should do nothing) and see if it has the same problem mine has?

I tested out the demo and found out using the animated icon set only works if you set the enemy to below characters. It does not work with same as characters. The animation plays in the tile that the player stands on. It's a bug. Now I know what you meant by that. Using custom graphics works with all options. I don't want to use below characters and making graphics would be too

hard. I assume you never got in contact with falcao.  I'll test it some more.   

Edit: Using animated icon set with same as characters works if you change the tool size higher to 2, lol. :D

I wonder what else I'll find out with this script, lol.

if i use a custom graphic, it doesnt fix it. changing the tool size to 2 isnt ideal because you hit everything next to you even if your not facing it.

Not sure what you want your weapon to do. Experiment with the size and distance and the other note tags.  The custom graphic should be in the same position as the Axe in the demo.

what i need it to do is change the actors graphic when attacking, but that could be put to the side for now since we have figured out using switches int he move routes.

now all i need the weapon to do is act normally when attacking after calling a common event. with every weapon, even the demo weapons, if i make them call a common event then the weapon breaks and stops functioning normally

I'll try setting up a similar event, later. So it doesn't repeat the common event. Have you tried turning the switch off. Then turning it back on?

even if i have the common event do absolutely nothing, it has the same problem, so it doesnt have to do with the content of the move route or switches

i just find it strange how i have this problem but you dont, perhaps you could send me a demo of your weapon?

now i know why it seems like you dont have the same problem. your weapon isnt calling a common event. the problem only exists if the weapon is calling a common event

But I got my weapon to call the weather effects but that was outside the move route. I'll make a demo of that later. The weapon still worked. In the demo a skill called the common event. Weapons only work if its outside the move route? lol

Edit : Actually it seems that if a weapon calls the common event the animation is messed up. Weapons only work if you use a switch. If skills call the common event it's ok.

so what i can tell from the new demo you sent. you had the same problem but you set the tool size to 2. yes this works and the weapon does damage again but this isnt ideal because you are now attacking in a radius and hitting things your not facing.

The reason why I set it to 2 is because if I set it to 1 it does not cause damage. I would have to set the enemy to below characters. Now the player is stepping over the enemy, lol. We need someone to change the script. Its too buggy or otherwise find another abs system.

If you need the weapon to attack a certain way you need to use your own graphics.

facepalm... sorry, youve been missing the point, i had a feeling you were but i needed the demo to confirm that. sorry you spent all that time trying to figure out what the problem was when youve had the problem all along. i knew it was weird that note tags were the same but you didnt have a clue as to what i was talking about. 

if i need a weapon to attack a certain way i actually dont need my own graphics, infact there could be no graphic at all. using my own graphics only makes it LOOK like its attacking a certain way,since the graphic has NOTHING TO DO WITH how the weapon acts. But, thats not the problem, i need the weapon to attack, period. it is not a graphical issue, thats been made clear by all the suggested solutions not working.... and me saying it wasnt several times already

You're right I don't know what you're asking. For some reason you can't set the tool size to one and tool distance to one when you have the enemy set to same as characters. I caused damage only because I had the enemy set to below characters. When I set the tool size to 2 I see

that every now and then the player will cause damage to the enemy without facing the enemy. Since I raised the tool size it must cause damage in a wider area.  I just have to deal with that or find someone to change the script.  The animation that you see with my weapon attacking in a radius is fixed in the script. It plays the same animation with every icon in the data base even an armor icon. If a common event is used with a weapon it messes up the animation. The animation plays in the tile that the player is standing on instead of in front of the player. I now got rid of the weapon animation. If you press your attack key it doesn't do anything/attack? check your battler script configuration. Or was it because you had tool size set to 1? I do have the same thing you do but don't have that much of a problem with it. sorry if I couldn't help that much.

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
