Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals for me(the SNES one!) I feel it accomplished a very perfect balance of side things to do(Ancient Cave, Capsule Monsters), story, likeable characters, puzzles, and I loved the graphics.

Earthbound is a very, very veryveryvery close second. Shigesato Itoi has that master-technique of writing a great story and characters. Like a great book, you can't put it down. And it stayed with me quite a bit.

Hehe you don't.

FF IX is also the only FF game where the ending made me go

"WTF I NEVER PREDICTED THIS!!! WHAAAAAAAT?!??!?!?!"

The rest where usually to predictable in what would happen

To be fair though the IX end boss was pointless..... RANDOM POINTLESS BOSS!!!!!!

Necron... Never mentioned before the final fight.... Never managed after the final fight.

Haha xD you can say that again.

My point wasnt the boss thought.

It was the main character's origin I did not expect (and all that) :p

iirc that was one of the first things I assumed when I saw the resemblance to Kuja, I never however expected the Invincible to be the cause of the Storms above Madain Sari and Alexandria.

If PS1/PS2-era is covered, then SaGa Frontier and Grandia II are definitely up there in favorites. Especially SaGa Frontier... it's punishing, but oh-so-rewarding.

Final Fantasy 7. It's not because its the first ff game i played, because it wasn't. The first time i played it was during the playstation 2 era lol.

Despite loving FF7 it never had quite the same fun exciting feel as 9 did to me.

I couldn't get into 9's character design. I don't like how alot of the characters looked... ESPECIALLY Queen Brahne.

I will agree with you on that, some characters were just horrible - Queen Brahne, Steiner, Eiko, Quina etc.

Yet others were perfect for me - Vivi, Beatrix and ZIdane were well designed.

I think the storyline is really what caught me, also one of the few FF games with a really upbeat protagonist.

I was really into FF6, FF7 and FF9 with FF9 being my favourite though I must have put more time into FF& than I have anything else in my life...

I adored all of the Breath of Fire series

Vagrant Story was amazing

I could only get Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger on import so I didn't actually play both of those until much much later although I think both are works of genius...

I very much love old Zelda games though my true passion is the more Turn based combat...

I loved Wild Arms

I've found myself filling my PS3 and PSP with old RPG's that they are putting up onto the PSN network which can only be a good thing...

LOL. i feel awkward. i enjoyed legend of dragoon more then any Final Fantasy game, especially FF IX and VII. VII I gave up on after 10 minutes because it was that boring for me, and IX, I couldn't stand the character drawings. But Dragoon had a really solid story if you payed attention to the small details.

I was sad when the lead heroine got "ill" and didn't care for her replacement as the white dragoon.

To bad I suffered a computer crash. I had written a sequal to it -_-;;

BTW, did they ever go back to using the FF theme in the games, or did that truely die after FF IX. The only reason I played FF X-2 is because I went to high school with Jade Villalon.

If you mean the FF music they have always used it. It's just that they have modernized it, but it still follows the same melody.

Like intro on FFXII is a melody from one of the first FF games.

I never liked the first Shining Force

Shining Force 2 however was fantastic.
Really? Why? I love SF2 too but I've got a stronger bond with the 1st one.
