He was a real bastard to take down. Aside from the final boss, his final form was the one who gave me the most trouble (after I learned to notice enemy patterns and guard when appropriate, which, hoo boy, was when I fought those 3 ninja guys one-on-one. Game was killed until then).
Also, I second the guy who said Yuri from Shadow Hearts. Add Blanca, Joachim, and Anastasia to that. And Mao and Ricardo from the sequel. Mao is a clear indicator that the devs went off the character design deep end in a good way: she's a giant talking cat with a voice rough as sandpaper who fights using drunken fist, and her weapons are flasks of alcohol. Ricardo is basically El Mariachi, with a large arsenal somehow stored in his perfectly-working guitar (flamethrower, pistol, rocket launcher, etc).
Ramza Beoulve (FFT): He's the only really good character in a crapsack world. He tries his best to care about the means as much as about the end, better emphasized by the fact that he ALWAYS tries to negotiate with his enemies and only draws his sword once in the entire game's cut-scenes. And FFT being FFT, he pays dearly for being good - not that he cares, though; he's just that selfless.
Gameplay-wise, he's also one of the most powerful characters in the game (especially after Chapter 4), despite average stat growths and multipliers. His skills are just über powerful, and since his skillset is mostly support-oriented, they're that strong without actually being attacks.
Like Touch, I'm also a FFT addict, going as far as playing the 1.3 fan patch on a regular basis, so yeah...
Delita Hyral (FFT): He's pretty much Ramza's opposite, betraying and using everybody until he's at the top, alone. He has good intentions but his methods are ruthless. He's very realistic and you can't help but liking him despite everything he does. He's pretty pitiable too because in practice, he succeeds in ending the war and make a better Ivalice.
Vayne Solidor in FF12 is partially inspired from Delita but not as likable because he's more arrogant and has less screen time.
Heiss (Radiant Historia): Heiss is what happens when you try to make a messiah out of somebody who doesn't want to. What every standard RPG hero could become if they really thought twice about what they're asked to do. The game doesn't even bother to hide that he's a villain (just look at his character portrait!) but when you understand why he ends up sowing the seeds of his own defeat...
Lezard Valeth (Valkyrie Profile): A creepy, sadistic, stalking mad scientist pedophile who goes to any possible lengths to make Lenneth his. He's a complete waste of humanity but so over-the-top that he manages to be hilarious as much as he's disturbing. Which is quite a feat.
Augst Henrikssen (Wild Arms 4): I like him because:
- He's the only member of Brionac without superhuman ability and is there just because of his intellect.
- His goal is to save the world, and for this, he'll betray just everybody as long as his new allies can help him to achieve it.
Other reasons are spoilerish:
- He doesn't want to fight the party (composed of children) because "children represents the future" so ends up becoming a flesh wall just to stall them while Lambda escapes. He knows he'll die of course.- During said fight, he tests his last experiment on himself and sends the data to his allies.
What sucks is the fact that the only game store near me is a small local business. I've never had a chance to play most of these games you're talking about, although I do know about them. Some I don't, but most I do. I need some to play all that crap, jeez.

Auron, from FFX. He was the stone-cold badass swordsman, keeping everything bottled up. And then, come end of game, his secrets are exposed, and suddenly becomes (I think) the most interesting character of the game.
Emmy Altava from Professor Layton. She is the perfect woman and shows you that we can kick you in the balls :<
"Future Luke" from Professor Layton & the Lost Future. He is a great character and (warning: ginormous spoiler for the entire game)
the best villain of the series, hands down. A brilliant actor and a villain with a good story. The end made me cry a little bit.
Dia from Luminous Arc 2. I really like Dia, she's funny but still a great leader. And nobody else calls Roland and Rasche "Kid" and "Other Kid".
Tear from Tales of the Abyss. Granted, I've been playing the game for less than an hour, but I still really prefer her to anyone else. She's so serious and awesome.
Adele from FFT: A2. She was such an awesome trickster and made me laugh.
Neku from TWEWY. I can totally relate to the way he thinks and I understand what it's like to hate people.
I feel like everyone can relate to Squall in some ways. He gave me a lot of strength during rough times in my childhood, showing me it's okay to depend only on your self but that it's also okay to look to others for comfort sometimes, that it doesn't make you weak. Being a man isn't about how independent you are, but knowing where you're needed the most.
No other villain has ever been as amazing or as successful as Kefka. Nothing else really needs to be said.
After learning from Squall, I discovered Lloyd and really looked up to him. A gentle idealist, Lloyd is someone we all want to be deep down inside: trying to do the right thing at all times, no matter how hard or impossible it may seem. He accepts his faults and works hard to restore honor in himself, but knows that he isn't the only one that matters in the grand scheme of things, and is willing to make the sacrifices that others were meant to.
The Warrior of Light filled the role of cliché hero that modern video games have been missing for a very long time now. He refreshed my hope in today's games and proved to me that Square still has some good left in them for old fans like my self. I really look up to WoL's strength and ability to follow what he feels is the right thing to do. His ability to lead others with so little to go off from earns my highest respect.
For some reason my mind is drawing a blank right now when it comes to RPG Characters except for these 2 Dr. Eva Rosaline and Dr. Niell Watts from to the moon (that is an RPG right?) not only can they keep their spirits relativly high while doing a job that is rather depressing if you think about it but the humor and banter between them is hilarious. but even outside their humor they are just strong likable well rounded characters.
Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia. In one aspect, he's a sorta-dumb-fighter character. But he's really just a quirky teenager. Though he's sort of a simpleton, he's a fun simpleton, and has a good heart.
Laharl from Disgaea is a fun character, too. Maybe that's just because it's fun to play as the Evil Overlord once in a while, instead of being one of the starry-eyed protagonists wanting to take him down.
Deus Ex technically falls under the RPG category. I'd consider it an action-role playing game. Therefore, my favourite RPG character is JC Denton. The best character ever created, from the best game ever created.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most.
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
