I've been playing a lot of DKC1, DKC2, and DKC3 recently! So that got me thinking:

What is your favorite SNES Donkey Kong Country game and why?

I vote for 2. Not sure why. Except that I never could really get into 3. And I don't much remember playing the first one, but I played DKC2 to death on snes and gameboy advance. One of the few platformers I ever beat multiple times.

2 all the way. The first one is great, but for me, it always feels like it could be better, and the third one is too easy. The second is perfect as a game.

DKC3 was clearly handled by Rare's B Team while the main team worked on Banjoo for the N64. Not a bad game but it lacks polish.
DKC2 is one of the best 2D platformers, I say that having only first played it earlier this year.

First one is my favorite and the one I had the most fun with. I enjoyed two and it isn't bad by any means. Three I couldn't get into no matter how hard I tried.

God I spent so many hours playing DKC1 when it first came out. 2 was pretty good but I got out of video games for a while after that.

2 is the most well balanced and challenging of the trilogy by a mile. 1 is what I play through when I need a quick fix since I can beat it in just under an hour. 3 I go to occasionally, it has some interesting ideas but its not a tight experience like the first 2.

I like all three for different reasons. It's a great trilogy! Dixie for smash 5!
