Hi @bgillisp! The only goals we have for this month are to finish the items database and player's skill database. We are using the rtp animations but hope to get the pixel animations pack soon and start changing that ^_^
You and I have the same goal. Working on the database. Hopefully by the last week of Feb, it should be complete.

Finish mapping and eventing the main storyline in my project. Things left:
- Mapping the final dungeon.
- Eventing a big war scene.
- Eventing the last dungeon.
- Eventing the last scene.

After that, I hope I'll have time for some polishing. I said I'd be done around May/April, so let's hope polishing doesn't take more than 1-2 months (although based on what you said, @bgillisp, it probably will take a lot more than that lol).

@MushroomCake28 : Well it depends on how much is final and how much is placeholder. See the way my game is, the world opens up in Chapter 9 so when I made the game at first I only focused on the mandatory stuff. This also allowed to see if the game could be beaten doing the bare minimum as there was no option to do side stuff. Then I had to go back and add the side stuff, tweak events, remove placeholders, etc etc. That is why it took so long for me.

February Goals:
-Tweak the strategy guide
-Update the trailer
-Wait patiently for my tester to play the game through, as well as an LP'er that I got to play it (Stuidoblue has been nice enough to agree to play through the intro for me to give me feedback on that part of the game).
-Relax and play a game for a change. Or watch a movie. Basically do something besides make a game while I wait for the bug reports to come in.

I made the iris-in and iris-out animations, just using several pictures and show picture with wait commands. It looks kinda janky but it works. The other problem is that when I move to another map, the picture is no longer centered, and so far I haven't been able to get it to center correctly. I guess I should have made the pictures bigger, so that it's larger than the screen, and then I wouldn't need to worry about it being fully centered. XD Ah well! I also made a few new attacks for the random enemies, including a claw attack, a poison attack and a status effect breath attack (that poisons and has a chance to do two other status effects). Slowly working on testing everything to ensure the new attacks aren't too strong or weak and that the drops aren't too overpowered (as I have it set up now, you get a lot of goodies from battles, but that was just for testing purposes). Still have a LOT of work to do. I'm going to try to set up a sequence of show pictures to make the intro more dynamic, and maybe re-include the credits. I did a few more tweaks to the later part of the intro so certain things make more sense.

I need to get/make some graphics now, including a hand holding out a letter, a floating city in a bubble, and the church/rev's house in miniature (I plan on having a large table with that sitting on top, as tho it was a doll's house... as that's actually what it's supposed to be). I'll have to see if I can get this stuff done somehow. I'm also still thinking about how I'm going to make the scene with the girl crawling out of the window. I'm thinking I might try making a picture and using events for a couple of things. I dunno if I have the skill for this...

My goal is to turn the following map into something good:

The map is supposed to be an underground bunny-city. Also hoping to connect Chapter 1 of the game to this map and get some content done for it.

Based on the title image, I hereby declare February to be the month of adorable happy island chicken! That's much better than whatever February is usually known for (...is it known for anything actually?). : D

I originally wanted to come up with my goals by today but it seems my first February goal is:
  • figure out February goals
It'll probably involve some sketching and design again, and I want to keep going with the whole brushing up on anatomy thing.
I'll have to tackle some important life things early next week (trying to find a therapist after the whole burnout and everything of the last years; also some other calls, we're flat-hunting again but thankfully, this time while we still have a place and don't have to do it ourselves; also finally check a website that supposedly helps with self-organization for ADHDers -- all things that'll eventually affect my game-making, hopefully positively), those will likely drain me.
A side goal I have for this month is a silly little idea I had that'll help me flesh out two of my NPCs. Since I want to show it to my girlfriend, I really want to get this done. It'll also give me some fuel for those NPCs' dialogues, so it'd be a win-win-win. : D

Picking up from last month I'm at 0.7.14 and finishing up the test of the most recent quest. Ran into bugs and stuff at the end of the month that I have been tending to while entering the new progress reporting cycle, plus I made a few terminology changes, QA improvements and setting certain strategic spawns to function as field bosses. Added a few normal spawns as well.

So a goal for this month is to maybe enter a new jam or be inspired enough to make a new game!! Once I have a more solid focus I can figure out what goals I want to focus on this month! Good luck to everyone else!!

And I'm done testing my latest trial. Originally it was meant to function like mastermind pegs, however for reasons unknown I couldn't get it to work like that so I ended up turning it into a "trivia night" setup with questions related to my core subject matter, divinity, and general stuff like sports and literature as well. I tried to make it so it's not immediately obvious in every case but for example purposes I'll post a few of 'em here (and in case you're wondering, one of them is probably unspeakable on the forums under policy even though it's in a general knowledge context so I'll spare that one in case the mods were to have any problems).

Anyway, here are five samples that I already have:

According to literary history, which of these is an actual I Alpha intelligence callsign?
  1. 007
  2. 1920
  3. 794
  4. 3420
According to motion arts history, "who ya gonna call" against the undead?
  1. Avengers
  2. Justice League
  3. Ghostbusters
  4. Suicide Squad
According to literary history, which of these constitutes a sector of the underworld?
  1. Limbo
  2. Asgard
  3. Romulous
  4. Neptune
According to literary history, what beast was humiliated for its treatment of field mice?
  1. Tiger
  2. Rabbit
  3. Groundhog
  4. Squirrel
According to literary history, what did young castaways use as a cue during council?
  1. Stone fragment
  2. Conch shell
  3. Birchwood plank
  4. Robin's eggshell
Edit: this is update 0.7.15 in case you're wondering. If you are stuck I have answers past the jump.

Sample one: choice 1. 007 is James Bond, and anything else is shaken and stirred.

Sample two: choice 3. Pick anything else and you may as well cross streams.

Sample three: choice 1. This is from Dante's Divine Comedy. Also related to purgatory.

Sample four: choice 2. The rabbit in question was remade into a goon.

Sample five: choice 2. This one's from Lord of the Flies. They passed the shell to indicate whose turn it was in the discussion phase.

Progress Report #2:

RPG Maker MV Cook Tool:
-I was able to get two functions working:
--Converting data into JSON. Took a bit to achieve it, but I was able to do a proper conversion.
--Implemented the StreamWriter. It creates and writes on the files. Just need to implement StreamReader and read JSON properly.

As of this afternoon my project is officially complete to halftime. At this point I will be taking the proceedings in an entirely different direction for the second half with prior NPCs, bosses etc. getting involved in the effort to come.

Entering the evening I have also extended my knowledge trial. It is now coded with 60 possible questions from a prior total of 32 and extended to be available on demand once it's been cleared the first time.

Hmmm, goals for the month. Let's see... I'll try to complete mission II.10, which should be plenty enough.

As for progress, I did for now the first map of another planet, picture below. Contrasts with brown/red/blue. But the tileset isn't complete yet, as I'll have a full red forest, as well as another military base to prepare.

@Finnuval HAPPY BIRTHDAY
@Schlangan I appreciate more and more your spaceships

On my end, after the exterminator successfully killed my keyboard (using on-screen keyboard with
aleatory double clicking mouse) and my animator disc bottom peg, I plan to shade and animate these I made in my January bug-out!

So I've decided to enter not one, but TWO game jams (with the creator's permission) with my game: Gigolo Sim. So far today I managed to finish the game's hud and establish a rough job/energy system. I'm loving every minute of this!!! The screenshot I have for you guys shows the gigolo's modest crib (with the nsfw easter egg blurred out as per this forum's rules). It uses finalbossblues newest tile set so I'm super pumped to make this game happen!!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
