About:

FictionSphere is a Sidescroller Action game that combines various mechanics from nostalgic beat-em-ups, platformers, and light RPG customization. This blend of mechanics creates what we call a "Technical Platformer".

Summary:
Since the dawn of mankind our survival as a species has always been tested, and in the distant future a new infection challenges our species once again. An unknown infection called the Phanteria has been spread upon the world transforming humans into monstrosities known as phantasms, leaving destruction behind in their wake. However, a company known as Astral Tech. began taking countermeasures to stop these fiends. They Created a line of robots called the Apostoloids and led a group of immune humans known as the Excells to salvage what remains of humanity. Knowing they cannot take on the world, they create a city called Faeble and only grant access to humans who can potentially manifest into Excells, leaving society split and segregating those who are a lost cause.

Looks great so far! I love seeing games that break the regular RPG Maker mold, we come to expect! Doesn't seem to be mentioned in your post at all, but what's the state of the game looking like so far? It's hard to tell if the alpha is almost complete, or in early stages.

Hey there Adam, We're huge fans of the MMZ and MMZX series so the pixelart and the Art direction was geared a bit towards that. The inspiration of the Game mechanics came alot from RPGS PSO2 and Valkyrie profile, i wanted to do that same blend of Action RPG with some combo system. Hope you keep up to date with out progress!



Looks great so far! I love seeing games that break the regular RPG Maker mold, we come to expect! Doesn't seem to be mentioned in your post at all, but what's the state of the game looking like so far? It's hard to tell if the alpha is almost complete, or in early stages.
The game is still in development. In very early Alpha Stages, The last time we opened up a KS it didn't go exactly as planned, but this time we're a bit more keen into developing a demo before the funding period. However we're planning to add a decent amount of content to let you guys test out the combo mechanics so that way you'll get the gist of it :).

The demo will be out soon, but previous Kickstarter backers will try it out in a Private test first, before releasing tot he general public ^_^!

Added a new ice attack, felt very inspired from the Valkyrie Profile RPG for the PS1 and decided to pay sorta a homage to it!

This looks very non-RPG Maker MV ;) I would think Construct or Game Maker or similar engine. So how did you achieve such unique mechanics? Plugins or rewritten code?

I do have knowledge programming in JS as well as various other languages, however i am currently in the process of converting the game over to a different engine, which when the time comes if the mods/admins want to move it to a different subforum i am okay with that as well. The thing is, all games are essentially RPGS, its just how you portray the display aka the game world, games like Valkyrie profile is a prime example. I won't go into much details on how I achieved it, however yes plugins are necessary, lots of it and its alot of DIY. Virtually its up to the developers to use what tools they have to create something good.

On VX, a guy (French but forgot the name) manage to make a Muramasa-like with Touhou elements, the game was extremely fluid and enjoyable so making an action game IS possible but required to rewrite the engine core code to be effective.

Usually A Megaman like pop more with Click Fusion/Game Maker.

For the game in itself, OP you manage to caught the (kinda dying...) spirit of Megaman X extremely well and I look forward to where it will guide you !

I'm a huge fan of Megaman and games like it (Gunvolt comes to mind) so this looks right up my alley. Not to mention that it's not your typical MV game. Major props to everyone involved, this is great work~
