Fighter and Supporter Script

Hi, Skar here, again...

Okay, I need a script that will make it to where only certain party members in the party get attacked by enemies. A threat system of sorts. The reason for this is  that my game has two roles for characters, Fighter and Supporter. The Fighter will attack enemies, while the Supporter will buff the fighter with strength, speed, defense, or healing for one turn. This is the reason I need this script. The Supporters are "human" while the Fighters are "powerful beings," and they can take a lot of beating, while humans are... well... humans.

I've searched for scripts, system settings, and event techniques to do this, but came up empty.

I'm almost sure I've seen this somewhere (or something very similar), and it used states/features to accomplish it.  Just looking at them now, though, I can't figure out how it would have been done.

Could you not just set target rate [tgr] to 0%? Then that character would not get attacked at all, at least until everyone else in the party was dead.

Does not work, the "Supporter" will still get hit, just less of the time, at least it seems to me

EDIT: Actually, I found out some of my settings were whack. Setting the TGR to 0% on the "supporter" and 1000% on the "fighter" makes the fighter only get attacked. This problem was solved.

Yes, that's what I was thinking of.  But you're right - TRG of 0% is the variance of the target rate, not the target rate itself.

Oh? Well I've been testing, and setting the TGR to 1000% on the "fighter" and 0% on the "supporter" seems to work. Unless its that 1/192349304 chance or something, which would really suck in the occurrence of a boss fight.

lol - yeah, I think that's the case.  Though maybe not.  The docs say that 100% is the default, so if it IS a variance, that would make the target rate anywhere from 0 to 200%.

What happens if all of your "fighters" get killed off?  Do the enemies then go after your "supporters"?  Is that what SHOULD happen when they all get killed off?

heh, reminds me of ArTonelico.

You should tell us more on how you wanted the system to execute and if you are using certain battle system.

Yeah, when the "fighters" get killed off then yes, the enemies will one shot the "supporters", but that's the goal, the supporters are there to keep the fighters alive.

set the fighter as front frow

set the supporter as back row

and set all the enemy skill to only able to hit front row target. you won't have problem with skills that have multiple target (if using tgr it might still hit if have attack that hit many times or hit all).

the enemy will target front row until all front row eliminated. then they can target back row.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
