Another student found dead!
Today, at 4:30 AM a body of a young male was found. According to our witness, Esteban M. the body was "torn apart like by a beast or something". Our informer told us, that it was probably a body of Oscar Bermudez, History student on Faculdade de Letras de Universidade de Lisboa. The police has yet to comment on that matter.
This is a third History student that has died in a past month.

This morning PIDE has arrested doctor Vitor Savatora, a History lecturer on the Faculty of Letters of Universidade de Lisboa. According to our witnesses, doctor Savatora has been carried out of his house by four PIDE officers. Our sources state that he has been put in Amparo jail, situated about ten miles out of Videiras. We don't know the reason for PIDE to arrest a well known and well respected professor, lecturer at University of Lisbon. Perhaps he had something to do with the murders of the students on his faculty?

If you are reading this, I'm probably dead. Me, and Charlene too... but you're alive. So the world is still there... I think.
Two days ago I helped professor Savatora escape prison. Strangely, newspapers never said a word about it... pide probably wants to keep it quiet.
What I have done... I don't know, if you will believe me. I'm not sure if I believe myself. I can feel something, like... like something's clawing into my very rationality. What I know... logic just rules it out as impossible, not real... maybe it isn't.
I hope so...
I freed Savatora. I freed a madman, which... no. I won't put this insanity upon you. I don't know what to do. Savatora needs to be stopped. I can't do it alone. I got someone to help me, but... [unintelligible scribble] this... creature. But his words are so tempting... his vision of world, of reality... no! I can't fight insanity with madness!
I freed Sava... I had to. They took Charlene, made me do it. "Old debt", hah... now the world's gonna pay it...

Few words about the game
Filth is an adventure game created in RPG Maker VX Ace. It is based in a fictional city of Videiras (a district of Lisbon until 1930s), situated in Portugal. The game takes place roughly in late April of 1963. In Portugal, these years were a time of slow collapse of a totalitarian regime of Antonio Salazar. We are playing as an Algerian war veteran, who now works as an Insurance Investigator in Chicago. The game begins with us finding out, that out wife has been kidnapped, and to get her back, we have to free a political prisoner from Amparo - a prison situated near Videiras. Being on our own (with a bit of help of few people we know) we have to find a way to break Vitor Savatora out of prison, and don't get caught by Political Police (Policia Internacional e de Defesa de Estado - PIDE)... or just survive.
Game Mechanics
The game is inspired by works of H.P. Lovecraft, and it's going to be set in this kind of an atmosphere. I'm trying to keep it semi-realistic (enough to have some gameplay value though). Since our character has some military experience, we can use a weapon somewhat efficiently. But we are still a regular, mortal man and a stray bullet can end our story. That's why it's wise to avoid any confrontation with PIDE, as most of the times these will end... not too well.
Another important thing are the people we know from our days in Algeria. We can meet a few of them in Videiras, and each of them has skills or other means to help us with our task.
The game is fairly open and not linear; the player has a choice of multiple ways of playing. We can charge Amparo straight away and pray we won't get shot, or we may take everything step by step. Maybe our friends will be able to help? Maybe an Opposition can sabotage something, creating an opportunity for us? Who is Savatora anyway, maybe we should learn more about him? What reason did PIDE have to arrest him?
Graphics, Audio
Graphics in Filth are pre-rendered, taken from DLC sets created by PV Games. Because the main resource pack I use (Mythos Horror) is a bit limited with spritesets (especially ones of regular people), I'm using spritesets form other PV Games' DLC packs too (these are mainly Medieval Fantasy, and some Steampunk themed), so occasionally you may find an NPC that doesn't fit perfectly (but don't worry, you won't suddenly have a Paladin or Elven Sorceress walking around).
Most, if not all, locations will have a fog/overlay on them to improve the way game looks. It's not yet done for every location, but I'm working on it
Musics comes from various DLCs too. I'm trying to pick it carefully, in a way that improves the gameplay and atmosphere. It's mainly Dark Ambient or similar kind of music. Same goes for sounds and ambient.

End Notes
The game is going to be released in two languages - Polish and English. I'm designing everything in a way that after Polish version is finished, translating everything to English is going to be only a matter of days.
English is not my first language (neither is Portuguese), so if you see any mistakes, misspelled words, etc. please PM me, I will correct them right away!
