The later one has a different combat system (sideview, while 2k has frontview) and allows for more switches/variables/pictures.

Transfering games could work, if you switch out the RPG_RT.exe and harmony.dll to those of RM2k3, although i wouldn't guarentee that to work.

/edit: Also, since the 2k game was probably made using the illegal Don Miguel version of the maker, there could be legal problems when porting a game that way.

As said in other topics, we will only support legal games.

Before yesterday, the only legal 2K3 version was the japanese version shipped on CD to a japanese adress - almost impossible to get outside japan because there was no legal download available before the Steam version.

And for 2K, there still is no legal version outside its japanese CD.

If you purchase the new translated 2K3, it will allow you to legally ask for support and distribute the games made with 2K3, but not with 2K.

In case you don't fully understand Andar's last statement, because there is no legal RM2K English version, you cannot ask for help with it on this forum (including help to convert your project to 2K3). If/when 2K becomes legally available in English, THEN you'll be able to discuss that here - as long as you've purchased both of them :)

Actually, there totally is a legal version that's not a Japanese physical release. I've crawled through Japanese download stores before and have both found and purchased a copy of the Japanese version of RPG Maker 2000 (2000+ Value!, to be more precise). The store in question would be Vector. I find using it hard, though, as it's in Japanese; which is why I've never made any of my work with it public. (That, and I'm sure most people would assume I use the illegal English version.) I was actually looking for RPG Maker 2003 instead (mainly because it seems easier to find resources and tutorials for), but alas, RM2k is more popular in Japan than RM2k3.

So yes, you can totally own RM2k legally without having to fish for a physical copy! The obvious downsides are having to deal with the Japanese interface and lack of tech support from RMWeb, though.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
