Hello! I've been eyeing RPG Maker from afar for a long while now and after careful deliberation I decided to buy it in the sale. I've toyed around with other (3D) engines in the past, but I've never been this serious about sitting down and learning how to use one—mostly because this is the only one I'd ever really be able to make something worthwhile with.
The past few days I've been trying to get my bearings and learn how to use RPG Maker MV, but I'm finding it a little difficult finding my footing and starting to walk with it. There's two things that would probably help, but I've been having rotten luck finding either. Hopefully with you all being so well rehearsed with the software, the forums, and all the content surrounding them, that rotten luck is about to change!
The first is tutorials. There's an abundance of tutorials for Ace XV and lower, but I'm using MV and I'm not sure how different they are that they are, and would be more comfortable with one just for MV since it'd also talk about all the neat new additions in it.
The second is the harder one, which is resources. I've already got it vaguely painted out what sort of game I'm going to make, I've been working on the setting and characters in the background of my life for over half a year now. Initially I was going to write a novel about it—my step up from short stories and into the literary big leagues—but the more I've thought about it the more I've come to picture it better as a game than a book. Problem is, it's not a fantasy setting I'm working on, and most of the resources I've come across are fantasy oriented. The setting I'm planning on going forward with is sci-fi, and I'd need both the gritty punkish ghetto look and the hyper-polished victorian style to juxtapose the upper and lower class properly.
Any pointers in the right direction or general tips are majorly appreciated, as is any welcome in general! Thanks for the read.
