Hello, and a hearty thank you for taking the time to check out this thread (and hopefully throw some advice and criticism my direction) I have dabbled with RPG maker VX-Ace and MV several times in the past, working with basic events and mapping, but never went to much further than that. Now, am looking to make a full project and expand the scope of my development to include more in the process of doing so; basically a project to teach me the basics (or at least most of them). At current however, I am looking for advice on how large exactly I should plan the project to be (or rather how small), what kind of event combinations I should try to create, how much i should add to the database, etc.
Initial setting: Three villages (one center hub, and two side branches) four connecting zones, and three dungeons (two for each of the side towns, and one 'final' dungeon under the main town). Two McGuffins for each of the side town dungeons (both combined to unlock the final area) with a quest-line for each. As well as 6-8 mini/micro quests for various NPC's in the villages mentioned above.
Gimmicks: No Combat. Instead the game will be focused on light puzzles, unlocked "abilities" (think TM's in Pokemon) and quest progression. There will be a number of stat-checks based on one of four character stats: Intelligence, Charisma, Strength, and Stealth. (With each increased separately by completing quests and finding collectibles) I would like to also include some kind of resource clock to regenerate certain items in the game world (regrowing trees, ores, fish, bugs, etc) that could then be collected by the player for certain quests or content.
Inspirations: I am heavily basing the games design after
Hamtaro: Ham Ham Heart Break (Don't laugh!) and
Paper Mario.

Closing notes: Again, this will be my first real project (planning the design, keeping documentation, and hopefully finishing it!) So any advice or criticism is welcome!
PS: I sincerely hope this was posted in the right forum section and met the required ruleset!
