RPG Maker Forums

Hello eveyone!

I just bought RPGMaker MV! I'm an artist and I've always been interested in game development, however I've tried to learn C++ and Python three different times with no results, thus ending my wishes of ever expressing myself through a videogame.

However, I was reminded of RPGMaker's existence when a friend of mine got into OFF! So here I am, being happy, learning the engine, and feeling proud whenever I manage to get an event working! During my first day with MV, I've made a short joke-y game to cheer up my friends and was amazed at how great creating in MV it feels! I currently have some small ideas for some other, more games, but I'm still stuck in the process of making custom tilesets... Oh well.

Um, I haven't read any other Introduction thread on here because I'm rushing, so... I'm Chil, I draw a lot, read comics, play videogames and watch let's plays... I'm still in high school but plan on studying illustration, perhaps getting a minor in digital design.

My biggest art inspirations, coincidentally, come from games such as OFF, Ib, and Wadanohara. Obviously there's a lot of other things that shape my art style, although I praise these three games as I've played through them multiple times and found them IMMENSELY enjoyable and inspiring!

I can be a bit forgetful and lazy, so I hope I don't forget to pick up RPGMaker one day, but until then, I hope I'll have a great stay in this forum!

By the way, pardon my English! Non-native speaker here.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
