Flash Screen in new game (REQUEST)

Hello members and admin, i want to ask you all something, i want to put a flash screen when i press new game/start game (like resident evil), anyone can help me ? thank you :)

You can easily do that using eventing alone.


And please link to the video/game you are talking about, not every one plays the same game as you do, no matter how famous it is. Especially an old game like that, those that played won't remember how that flash thing works without showing an example.

when the title screen appear, and i press start button, flash screen and sound appears.

From what i see in that video link, the only thing that flash is the movie clip at the start, the rest just show a series of title screen.


so like i said before, you can do that using eventing alone.


on the 1st map after you start the game


create an invisible event and set it to run on parallel -> event command flash white or color tone to white


so as soon as start button is pressed, the screen will flash white as it enters the 1st map, you can then event it to do whatever you like from there.


as for the text with sound, simply look for the popopo message sound script in the master script list. then use a type writer sound file instead of a "po" sound.

And if you want it to appear before the regular title, or change the way the regular titlescreen looks, then you'll need something called a "Splash Screen" script in this community.


There are already several existing, just search on the master script list for that. If you don't know where the master script list is, follow the link "how to use a script" in my signature

If you want to happen that after "new Game", then simply make your first map the flash screen (set the party to invisible in the database) and remember to turn it visible again after you leave that first flash screen map.


You'll need an autorun on that first map to do whatever you want before transfering to the next map.


Absolutely no need for a script in this case

its too slow, too late, i want start and flash timing same , start game > flash > go to map . like that. i think scripts writer can help it. can u ?

Nope, even if we script it to flash right when you press start, it will not make much difference because it will be switching to the 1st map right away anyway and the scene transition from title to map will be in the way making it flash black briefly. If you set your event to run on parallel, it should be running before you enter the map scene, so i don't see why it's "too late".

and oh, you will not be using your 1st map as a "playable map", but simply use it as a picture shower/story teller(Set your 1st map to be the same picture as your title if you want a good looking flash effect here).


Do your flash and whatever there, then when all the play sequence is over, transit to your real play map and set your player character to visible.


So 1st map = opening, not play map.

This took 15 seconds to make:

You can change the duration and color of the flash on the noted lines.


Place it just below Materials in your script editor.

And you can add different sound effects for each command on the title screen as well.


Although I must say, that video linked above did not show any flash effect. Did I miss something? :D

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
