Floating Quest Indicatorsby mjshi- OK for use in all projects with credit

The Reasoning:

I couldn't find any decent quest pointer character icons, so I decided to make my own, and share them.

The View:

The Goods:

Put a "$" before whatever your filename is, then place/import into Graphics/Characters.

The Tutorial:

Evented quests:

Set up an event like so...

... and add tabs as necessary for each stage of the quest.

For a level-locked quest, the first page should be like so:

with the second page having a setup similar to the first image. You can use conditionals in this way to change the floating icon.

Vlue's Basic Quest System Script:

Replace :q2 with whatever your quest id is. Don't forget to correlate this parallel process with an NPC. You can use the same method as in the Evented Quests section to level-lock quests.

@Joller I'm glad you like them! What do you mean by adding numbers or letters? .-. Like, draw out the alphabet in this color? (because these intended to be quest indicators, the ones you see in MMOs, and not for actually writing out anything. For example, this.)

@Sharm You had me scrambling to re-read the resource rules and guidelines until I realized you were talking to Joller xD

Well I could need some letters for my world map, and also perhaps some other stuff. I tried making it my own, but didn't work out too well.

Because it's basically doing the same thing as you did with the question marks, right?

I know it could be a lot of work, but I'd be real happy!

I could, but that would be unrelated to quest pointers, so I would need to put them in a new topic.

But hey, if all you want is to draw some text on your world map, we have scripts for that.

Short tutorial if you got your Ace via steam:

Click the "subscribe" button on this guy's project, wait for his project to download (it will appear in your default projects folder) navigate to their scripts, copy, then paste into your project.

If not:

PM and I can send you the script. I don't think I'm allowed to mass distribute a script that's been pretty much exclusively hosted on Steam.

@mjshi

Nice resources. Thank you for sharing them with us!

Now, this may be a little pathetic and out of topic but may I please ask:

Where did you find that windowskin at the screenshot above?

I am so sorry if I am rude here. I am very sorry!

No problem. The windowskin is a custom one that I made, I'll pm it over to you when I get back home.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
