Hello everyone.

Is there a easy way with the movement system to tell a sprite to float or fly continously?

What I would like to do is program birds flying in the air on the overworld map, however my only thought was using the jump command in the custom movement.

Any thoughts?

I've moved this thread to RPG Maker MV. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

For birds I usually just set the event to random movement, and make sure that the stepping option is checked.

I believe you can do 4 things:
1 - Put the event as "above".

2 - Put a shadow on the bird chart or use plugins that add shade to the events.

3 -
Including a "!" at the beginning of the file name will prevent the image from being shifted 6 pixels and will no longer appear half transparent by bush elements. This is primarily used for objects found in the map such as doors and treasure chests.
- Rpg maker mv help file

4 - There is also a plugin that can add an effect that simulates a float in the event. But i never used for this.

Why would you use a Jump command? What would it achieve that all the other movement commands won't?

For a bird, you'd want to set the event to Through, so it can go over trees and cliffs. I normally just do an autonomous move route that makes it move in a certain direction, and a script call to check if it's reached the edge of the map, to put it back to the other side.

Thank you, wonderful idea.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
