Ok, so I only made this account because I am so confused when it comes to downloading games like .flow and Yume 2kki.
It's my first time downloading a game like this and I have no idea what to do- I've seen videos about how to install it but I have no idea how to put it on my computer. When choosing a helper application should I put it in 7z or? Sorry if this sounds stupid, again it's my first time getting games like this...

I actually managed to install Yume Nikki, Yume 2kki and .flow on my Windows 10 computer. I am also making a Yume Nikki fangame of my own in MV.

MV games are just easier to install on newer computers, but games made in 2000 and 2003 are very difficult to install on newer models. What type of computer do you have?

Sorry I took so long. Got at home studies. Anyway, if it's Windows 10 that you have, then I'm afraid that's the hardest one (actually I hear Windows 11 is out so it could be worse).

But because I got it to work on Windows 10, just follow my instructions. You appear to be using 7Zip, whereas I used WinRar. But 7Zip should do just fine. I am assuming you want Yume2kki and .flow and that you already got Yume Nikki on Steam (which makes getting it so much easier).

1). Let's start with the easier one, Yume2kki. Download it from the web (as I'm sure you already have) then get this special app called EasyRPG which is designed to run RPG maker 2000 and 2003 games on newer systems: Get EasyRPG here!

Get the most recent release and choose between 64 or 32 bit. It's up to you. It depends on what your computer can handle. Perhaps it can run 64 bit just fine, as it's Windows 10 after all. EasyRPG's most recent version is 0.6.2.3, so make sure it's that. You want the best one.

Then drag and drop the app into Yume2kki's main file named "ゆめ2っき". You will find it at the very bottom once you enter this file. Sorry, but that's just how it is.

Then double click on it and it should run the whole game. I should warn you though that there's a bug in the game that happens because of EasyRPG (don't know why it happens) where if you try to use your computer upon first booting up the game, it will freeze up. You need to exit your chair and then boot your computer. This also happens every time you first wake up, so always leave your chair then re-mount it. I wish I knew how to fix this problem.

Also, here is more information about EasyRPG: More Information...

2). Now for the trickier one. I don't know if the new release of EasyRPG will work on .flow, but you can try just in case using the same method. Put a copy of EasyRPG within the file named "data" and find it at the bottom. You can copy the app how you would anything else. Run it and see what happens.

For me, the game was complete chaos. It's supposed to work for games made in 2000 as well, but this wasn't the case for .flow.

Before you do any more, try the easier method.
--- --- ---

I am assuming it will not work for you if you've read this far, so we will talk about how to get .flow working on Windows 10 the hard way. This method requires that you install Locale Emulator. By the way, App Locale does not work for Windows 10, so you must install Locale Emulator.

Get Locale Emulator here: https://pooi.moe/Locale-Emulator/

I tested it, and the site is safe. It is in fact safer than the one I originally got it from, so I didn't bother to show it to you. Get the most recent version and install it using the installer (it is called that so it is easy to find). You can also use the installer to uninstall it, but you'll need to keep it for these games.

You will notice that your computer thinks Locale Emulator is a virus, but this is thankfully false. Make sure you choose a permanent location for the emulator's files, as it is very difficult to move without ruining it (at least I believe).

Watch this video to get everything you need and pay careful attention to how he does things. However, the links he provides are sketchy so I would get .flow's RTP from somewhere else:

If you want to see if the comments or description of the video has more information, just click directly on the video.

It turns out to install the Japanese RPG Maker 2000 RTP, you will need to swap your computer's region settings to Japanese (just look up how to do that), even with Locale Emulator, or the RTP will not install properly (it will be stuck at 44%). But you can swap back to English once it installs properly, which you should do or other apps on your computer may not work.

Now as for how to get .flow's RTP (Japanese version) I cannot give you my extracted version as for some reason, it must be specially installed per computer. I forgot where I found mine, but I remember it was very sketchy. It was fine though, but I would recommend finding a safer version of this download.

To find one, ask around. Start a separate thread for that. I would love to know where to find a safer one myself. Just make sure it's specifically about RPG Maker 2000 RTP (Japanese version). Unless, you've already found it somehow.

You can technically download it in the video's description I sent you, but it's so sketchy. I think that's where I got mine. Good luck! It really sucks that it's so hard to get these things in a safer way, so I hope you take caution and avoid harming your computer. I remember almost losing my computer because I was tricked into getting a fake version of WinRar from a clone site that was actually a virus. Be careful out there.

If you do get a virus, I recommend installing Malwarebytes. Install this for free before doing anything risky and let me know if you've found a safer way to do things.

You're welcome. Also, I am almost done with a demo of my Yume Nikki fangame. I will release it soon on a fan site. Maybe you'd be interested. If you want, I can let you know when I've finished it. It's made in MV. I would've made it in MZ, but it wasn't out at the time I started it, so I will finish it in MV.

The demo isn't the finished version but hopefully I'll have the finished version out by the end of the year. The game is called 'Wilted Rose'. I will not spoil what it's about but it counts as a Yume Nikki fangame because it uses the same type of 'formula'. You get to explore the game's story through your dreams.

Did you successfully install .flow and Yume2kki? Out of curiosity, did .flow work with EasyRPG?

There's 7 main areas in the game that are all connected. This train get's you from an underground lab to the center of someone's subconscious. inside the train you can talk to some of the passengers. but going to the top of it, there's battles.
