Fluffy Little Friend Sprite Request

Howdy!


So, a lot of game out there tend to have some sort of (usually adorable) monster or creature that is basically an icon of the game. Some examples could be Pikachu from Pokemon, or Slime from Dragon Quest.


Being an absolute pushover for all things cute, I'd really love to add an adorable little friend into my game as well. Something cute and fluffy. I'm hoping to draw inspiration from League of Legend's friendly neighborhood puffball, Poro.

Stout, fluffy and walks on all fours, but I'm not necessarily looking to outright copy it either. I'm really open to suggestions on appearence, as I'm not quite sure what all would transfer well into an Ace size sprite.


As for the sprite specifics, I'm looking for a character sprite, not an enemy sprite. VxAce is the preferred sprite size.

A bit of an update, I have more of an exact idea of what I'm looking for now. 


Essentially, I'm looking for a fluffy, higher resolution version of this little fella (credit to Wen Shi) :

For fur color, I think a blueish-white might look really nice, but by all means, feel free to experiment if you feel a different color fur might look better. Ideally, I'd really like if he could walk on all fours, similar to the Poro picture in the OP.


I hope this helps clarify more so what I'm looking for.

Sure thing. I edited in credit to the sprite creator. I couldn't find any terms of use, so I removed the image, and replaced it with a link to the image of his site.

I'm gonna make a "fluffy mascot" for one of my brother's games, so it would be good practice if I helped you out, I just have a few questions:


One: You do need a sprite for VX Ace right? 'Cause I don't have MV yet, so can't edit sprites for it (yet) :


Two: Are your games none-profit? 'Cause I really don't mind working for free if the game is for free (profit games on the other hand . . . )


Three: What kind of game is it? Epic RPG? Modern day? Silly? Serious? . . . This isn't really important sprite making wise, I just want to know


Four: You won't be disappointed if it looks a bit amateurish will you? 'Cause I wouldn't call myself a "Pro" :


Also, I noticed you've been bumping this post for some time now, and no one offered to help you out, so this looks like a job for your friendly neighbourhood weirdo


Anyway, I could draw you up a sketch first, so you can see if you like my design? It's up to you

I am indeed looking for an Ace sized sprite, and the game that I'm working on is non-commercial. The game itself is presented as quirky and silly, while also incorporating a lot of deeper meanings and issues of morality.  Graphically wise, the sprites are the chibi-style similar to the sprites used in the RTP. I'm hoping to an alpha out for testing by summer, but I'm not quite sure when that'll actually happen. 


I'm not too worried if the sprite comes out a little rough around the edges, I ensure you that it'll look leagues better than my attempts. I do really like the idea of coming up with a sketch beforehand, though.

As far as names so, I haven't really settled on one yet. I've been calling them Phluffie (skill pronounced fluffy, just a weird spelling), but I'm thinking I should probably come up with something a bit more unique to call them.

I'll probably start making their sprite tomorrow, I just have one more little question, how big is Phluffie?


I was thinking they where around "Cat-Dog-maybe Rabbit" size, but I just realized that I never asked you, for all I know, they could be the size of a horse!

PS, now I can imagine the hero riding Phluffie . . . it actually looks kinda epic

Canonically speaking, I figured Phluffie would be roughly the size of a smaller dog, probably a foot to a foot and a half tall or so. Sprite wise though, I don't mind if it's closer to the full 32x32 sprite size to allow for a bit more detail. Something kind of like the RTP slimes, perhaps a little bigger, although feel free to make them whatever size you feel looks best.

I thought you'd like to see how Phluffie's sprite looks so far . . . I don't know if it needs anything else, so if you can think of a way to make it look better, let me know please
